MRS. CHARLES E. BLACKBURN DIES

Women Prominent in Social and Club Activities of City Answers Summons

Mrs. Caroline Blackburn, wife of Charles E. Blackburn, entered into rest at the residence 432 Clinton Street on Friday at 5:45 a.m. She had been ill for eight weeks due to complications, and was a patient at Gill Hospital where she underwent an operation, and was brought home two weeks since. At one time during her illness the hopes of friends were cleared by her seeming improvement, but there came the news of the death of her cousin Miss Nannie Shellart, and this seemed to weigh heavily on her mind and she gradually grew worse from that time on.
Mrs. Blackburn was born in Steubenville and was the daughter of the late Julius Zimmerman and Mrs. Sarah A. Zimmerman. She graduated from Steubenville High School, and was married to Mr. Blackburn thirty-five years ago. Following their marriage they lived in Pittsburgh for twenty-five years. Her husband, her mother and a brother Joseph A. Zimmerman survive a devoted wife, daughter and sister.
Mrs. Blackburn was an adherent of St. Paul's Church. She was possessed of beautiful elements of character and personality and had endeared herself to many friends, during her activities in social, fraternal and civic life, and from such scenes she will truly be missed, because of the interest she manifested in them all. Her death is a matter of deep regret to her many friends. mrs. Blackburn was a member of the Steubenville chapter of the D> A. R., a charter member of Social Order of Beauceant, a member of the Cryatal Chapter, O. E. S. of Pennsylvania court; Order of the Amaranth, of Allah Court, Ladies' Oriental Shrine; Past high priestess of Damascus Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem and chairman of the Music Department of the Steubenville Woman's Club.
