ADA F. SIMERAL DIES TODAY AT BLOOMINGDALE

Served as Postmaster of Village Under Eight Presidents--WAS WIDELY KNOWN

Miss Ada F. Simeral, one of the most widely known and highly respected women of Eastern Ohio, passes away at her home in Bloomingdale, this county; at 12:10 a.m. Friday, July 11. Miss Simeral has been active in public affairs during practically all of her life. As postmaster at Bloomingdale she served under eight presidents there being few postmasters in the United States with a longer and more successful tenure of office. For the past thirty years she has been the correspondent of The Steubenville Herald-Star in that section of this county, and during that time reported the joys and sorrows, the births and deaths and all the events of interest to that community.
Miss Simeral had a genius for friendship and hundreds throughout the tri-state district returned her kindness with a deep affection. She was widely read and had convictions fortressed by knowledge on every public question. She has served as voce president of the district auxiliary to the Sons of Veterans. She was at the time of her death president of that local auxiliary and presided over its deliberations on Wednesday evening of this week. She was past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, and was serving at present as chaplain of the local organization. She was a member of the Steubenville Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and was connected with the Richmond, Ohio Valley hospital twig. FOr many years she was a teacher in the Sunday school of the Bloomfield Presbyterian church and was always active in all community endeavors. Few have given more unselfishly of themselves to every movement for the benefit and spirit of the county and of the community, Two years ago, Miss Simeral was confined to her bed for several years ago and never fully recovered her strength, but still retained the keenest interest in public affairs. Her passing at this time, however, came as a great shock to the community and to her immediate family as she was happy planning to spend this weekend at her brother's home in this city.
She was the daughter of the late John B. and Harriet Simeral, and the only surviving member of her ------------------ is Charles B. Simeral, --------------- of the Steubenville Herald Star. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., from the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church of which she was a life long devoted member. Miss Simeral was so much a part of her community , had impressed her personality so strongly upon its life and activities that her death has caused the keenest regret and aroused the deepest sympathy in that entire section of the county.
