SURNAMES: MILLER, GILL, WORKMAN, PRICHARD
I made a field trip to Jackson county a couple of weeks ago to fill in some blanks in my tree. While in the area I stopped by Ridgewood cemetery and got some help from the crew there finding the burials of a few relatives. They referred to a collection of books/ledgers that listed every burial by name, location and interment date. Does anyone out there know the legal/privacy issues involved in maybe getting a copy of these records to assist in locating relatives? The supervisor/manager of the cemetery was not there at the time and besides I didn't think of it until later, but if I were to take a scanner in to avoid having to take the records off the site to copy them (of course considering that the management would allow access) do you think it would be legal/permissable to get this info for public access? Has anyone approached this matter before? I could see how there would probably be someone out there that would object to this info being easily available but maybe the answer to that is to not publish the info on the web but instead to offer lookups by request only for interested researchers. Please share any ideas/previous experiences with this idea.

SURNAMES: EWING
I am trying to find an obituary and other information about the family of Rev. James Knox Pohl EWING (1845-1915), who preached in Ohio and Indiana. He is buried in Fairmont Cemetery in Jackson County. Specifically, I am hoping to learn whether his "son", Edward Gordon Gardiner EWING, was adopted, because he does not show up with the family in the 1880 census of Jackson city (Broadway Street). Edward was born in 1877 or 78, so he should have been in the census if he was Rev. Ewing's son. Edward served in occupation of Cuba for 5 years and emmigrated to Canada. On some of his Canadian papers, Edward stated that he was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Rev. EWING had daughters Florence Ella EWING, who married William Fleet PALMER from Frankfort Indiana, and Jesse Alice EWING, who married Fred W. BERTSCH (I think from Ohio, and maybe from Jackson, Meigs, or Athens County). He also had a son listed as Emmitt in the 1880 census, but I have found no further trace of him.
