Need help in locating McDonald family in Jackson County. John MCDONALD is listed in the 1860 for Jefferson Township (If this is the township for Oak Hill), Jackson County. I have been told that he is listed in the 1870 Census for either Bloomfield or Milton Township living with his son Peter. I have just located info on the Jackson County web site that son Peter died Septmeber 1881 at age 49, and his wife Rachel died July 1881 at age 51 in Bloomfield Township. What happened to Peter's father John? I have not been able to find a death record for him. Where is Bloomfield Township in relation to Jackson and Wellston? I will be coming to Jackson the first week of May to see what I can find on death records and burial places. I would very much appreciate any help. I'm not that familiar with Jackson County.

I beleive Thomas GRIFFITHS, born 1837 in Wales, a coal miner, was in Jackson Co. in the late 1850s before moving on to California in the mid 1860s, and Washington in the 1880s. Does anyone know anything about the Welsh coal miners of that era? Are there any census for 1860 for Jackson Co.? Would appreciate any ideas or leads.

Isaac died Nov.1859 or Jan1860, Liberty Twp., Jackson County, Ohio --which was her home. We have located the Susanna and Henry VANCE grave sites ---but unable to locate Isaac MORGAN. He was married to Eliza A. WILSON who died 10 Feb 1881 according to "History of Lower Scioto Valley", published 1884. I assume that she died in Jackson county but find no record of her.They are parents of Edgar Bentley THOMPSON, b27 Feb 1857, later married Alice RICE. Although we have a fair amount of documentation - I was wondering what the likelihood of accessing possible records or photos if they were members of the Masonic order in Jackson. We don't know for sure if they were or not - but a few were recorded as very active in the "ME Church" and later Rices were masons. When the new 35 was built they live in a trailer just north of Canters Cave rd. They were black and had two grandsons living with them in the early 1950's, Ronny and John Jay.
