SURNAMES: PITSENBARGER
Just in case someone comes along and sees Philip PITSENBARGER in the 1820 census for Jackson Co. I'd sure like to know more about him or contact a descendant. He "squatted" on land north of Versailles, OH, in 1827 (HISTORY OF DARKE CO) and paid taxes in Shelby Co. in 1834. But there is no sign of him after that - no will, no estate, no grave, nada). We can only guess at his children (he had nine in the 1830 Darke Co. census) and have only legend for his wife's given name. I had always wondered why he was in Jackson Co., but his married sister's presence there helps explain that.

James SAMS (1844) married Permelia CAVILLE and had 7 children. The children (born between 1869 and 1892)were Mary, Martha, Elizabeth, Viola, Cora Etta (my grandmother), Amelia, Stella, Minnie, Dollie, and William.Matthew Edward NEWPORT and Cora Etta SAMS were married in Jackson and live there until about 1898 then moved to Indiana. This is all I know before the generations now living. My mother as the youngest of 12 never met most of her relatives and we would like to get to know as many as possible now (especially before the upcoming Newport reunion.)
