CHARLES A. ATKINSON,
Acting Recorder of Jackson County, Ohio, was born on the 9th day of February, 1852, in Webster, Sciota County, Ohio. He was the oldest of three children whose parents were Louis A. Atkinson and Amanda Long. His father was Auditor of the courts for some years. The early education of the subject of this memoir was liberal. By means of teaching school in the main he was enabled to obtain a collegiate course of instruction, and graduated, in 1874 from the Ohio University, Athens. He immediately began the reading of law under Judge Hastings, of Jackson. In January, 1875, he entered on the duties of Recorder of Jackson County, which duties engross his attention up to the date of this sketch. Politically he is a republican. Religiously, he is a Methodist.
