DEATH OF ADAM GREER-24 Aug 1917

Last Friday at 11:00 ocurred the death of Adam R. Greer at his home on Bernard Street in Findlay. Mr. Greer was well known here, having at one time owned the farm now owned by William Heck. He was 86 years old. He is survived by 7 children, 15 granchildren, and 10 great grand children, one daughter being Mrs. Charles Luzader northwest of town.
The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon and was in charge of Dr. W. H. Duyer of the College Church of God. The following grandsons were pallbearers: Harry Duraine, Walter Hutt, Mack Hamen, Forest Luzader, Harry Luzader and Everett O. Bacher.
Those who attended the funeral from here were: P.E. Wonder, D. W. C. Rau, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Luzader and daughter Miss Anna, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Luzader and son Ralph and Mr. and Mrs. Truman Stahl and son Lehr.

Fatal Case of Milk Sickness

Last Friday afternoon, Mrs. Wm. Greer, near Mt. Blanchard , was taken violently ill with milk sickness. Drs. Grove and Clark were called and did all they could, but in vain. CALLED TO FATHER’S BEDSIDE-Aug 1917
Mrs. Charles Luzader and grand daughter Opal Bish went to Findlay Saturday, called there by the serious condition of Mrs. Luzader’s father Adam R. Greer. On their return they were accompanied by two of Mrs. Luzaders sisters and a brother. The party, who came by motor, included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hutt and children Ralph and Vera of Cleveland, and Mrs. Nevada V. Bachar and Daniel Greer of Findlay. On their way to Carey they stopped for dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Class of Arcadia. West Independence had been visited by a severe wind and lightening storm and much damage had been done to the corn.
Mrs. Truman Stahl and children were also guests of Mr. and Mrs. Luzader over Sunday.

Ault, Tawney, Sanderson, Roller, Musser, Kennedy, Cottrell

WILLIAM H. AULT
William Henry Ault 81, died Monday, March 31, 1958 at Morrow County Hospital, Mt. Gilead, after an illness of several months. The son of Henry and Margaret (Tawney) Ault, he was born in Hancock County, near Alvada, July 27, 1876 and moved with his parents to a farm near Bradner in 1890. He worked in the oilfields in Wood County for several years, and spent the remainder of his life as a farmer. He was married to Della Sanderson July 15, 1904. Surviving are his
wife, a sister, Mrs. Della Roller, Findlay: six children, Mrs. Leota Musser, Fostoria; Harry Ault and Kenneth Ault, both of Wayne; Mrs. Pauline Kennedy, Mansfield, and Mrs. Hope Cottrell and William Ault Jr.,both of Johnsville,O.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Three sons preceded him in death. Services will be held Thruday, 2pm at the Sage Funeral Home in Bradner, and burial will be in Bradner cemetery.

"Mrs. Homer Tyner Expires at Home on Center Street; Rites Tomorrow"

Mrs. Homer Tyner, 53, died at 8:05 o'clock last night at her residence, 311 Center Street. She had been in failing health for the past year and was seriously ill during the past ten days. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Coldren Funeral Home. Rev. James M. Guyer, pastor of the College Church of God, of which she was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in Weaver Cemetery. Mrs. Tyner, née Myrtle Lillian Diehl, was born in Pennsylvania on April
17, 1877. She was the daughter of David and Belena Diehl. On December 19, 1900, she was married to Homer Tyner, who survives with three children, Kenneth Arnett Tyner, St. Elmo Tyner, and Betty Lee Tyner, all of 311 Center St. Two randchildren, Barbara Jean and James Edward Tyner, are living also. She has four brothers living. They are James Diehl, Akron, Harve Diehl, Youngstown, Gideon Diehl, Columbus, and Howard Diehl, Struthers. Mrs. Tyner moved to Findlay with her husband and children.

Sudden Death -- Last Thursday forenoon the wife of Mr. Charles Burns, East Findlay, was suddenly stricken with illness, while making a short call at the residence of Capt. Thos. Werts, her brother, and in about fifteen minutes was a corpse."  -- born 27 Dec 1853 in Catawissa, Columbia Co., PA, daughter of Samuel Lewis and Caroline (Barninger) WERTS.

Capt. Thomas C. Wertz died at his home on Wyandot street, East Findlay,
Thursday evening at five o'clock, after an illness of over four months, aged about 50 years. Funeral at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. The deceased spent most of his life in this city. He was a soldier in the war of the rebellion, and was at one time Captain of Co. A of this city. He was elected constable in 1888 and was re-elected in 1891 by the Republicans. He was an upright, honest citizen and had the respect of all who knew him. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community."

OLD RESIDENT WILLIAM BURNS DIES EARLY SUNDAY MORNING
Was Nearly Eighty-Nine Years of Age -- Fifty-Two Near Relatives Survive; Nearly Half of Whom Are Great-Grand-Children.
William Burns, one of the oldest residents of Findlay, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs.Godfrey Nusser, of 814 Wilson Street. He was within twelve days of being eighty-nine years of age. Eight children, nineteen grand-children and twenty-five great-grand-children mourn his death. The children are: Mrs.Godfrey Nusser, Mrs.Thomas Wertz, Charles Burns, Mrs.Albert Bolander, Mrs.Norman McCahan, Mrs.James Latham, Mrs.William Wolfe, and Mrs.Harry Thomas. Mr.Burns' wife died seventeen years ago. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock p.m. Tuesday from the Nusser residence on the east side. Burial will take place in Maple Grove cemetery."

CHARLES F.BURNS CALLED BY DEATH
Findlay Man Expires in Toledo at 86; Funeral to Be Held Here Monday -- Charles F. Burns, 86, 618 Washington St, died at (?)o'clock Friday morning in a Toledo hospital following an illness of a year from arterio sclerosis. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Burns was born Nov. 30, 1853. His parents were William and Harriet Burns. He lived practically all his life in Findlay and was employed at the city water works for 20 years. His wife, Emma Hanna Burns died in 1919. He is survived by three sister, Mrs Harry Thomas and Mrs. Ella Wolfe, both of Findlay, and Mrs. Anna Bolander, of Bay City, Mich. The body was brought to the Barnhart funeral home where services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. W.L.Harmony, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery."

Burial of Mrs. Tudor
Mrs. Mary E. Tudor, of 518 East High Street, notice of whose death appeared in last night's Courier, will be buried Wednesday morning. The funeral services will be in charge of Rev S.T. Brandenberry, of the Grace Evangelical church. The last rites will be held at the home at 10:00 o'clock. Mrs. Tudor had been in failing health for five years past. She was 74 years of age and suffered from a complication of diseases that her weakening forces could not withstand. She had been a resident of Findlay since the boom days of 1887. She married Robert Tudor and to them three children were born, Mrs. W.M. Powell, of 513 East Main Cross street; Mrs. F.M. Peabody, of Western avenue, and Benjamin Tudor, who lived at home with his mother. A brother and sister in Auglaize county survive her.

SUDDEN DEATH OF R.F. TUDOR- Died this Afternoon at 1 O'clock- WAS ABOUT
THIS MORNING - Funeral Arrangements Have Not Been Announced -- Death Due to
Stomach Trouble

R.F. Tudor, aged 60, died this afternoon at 1 o'clock at this home on Williams street from the effects of gastritis, a form of stomach trouble. The funeral arrangements have not been announced. Two children are left. Mrs. Tudor died several years ago. Mr. Tudor's death was very sudden and entirely unexpected. He was walking about the house and doing chores this forenoon up to 10 o'clock. He took suddenly ill, and despite all possible medical attention died about 1 o'clock.

Robert Tudor's Funeral
The Funeral for the late Robert Tudor will be held from the house Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Smith of the Grace Evangelical church will officiate. The funeral services will be in charge of the Stoker Post, of which command the deceased was an honored member. The body will be interred in Maple Grove.

Nancy Cusac Obituary "LIVED IN COUNTY OVER 80 YEARS" - Mrs. Nancy Cusac
Dead at Nearly 95 Years - Last Member of Early Family - Leaves Two Children - Was Pupil in First Portage Township School.

Mrs Nancy Cusac, a resident of Hancock county for eighty-one years died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Mitchell, of Allen township. Friday afternoon at the age of ninety-four years, six months and one day. Her maiden name was Nancy Bell and she was born in Westmoreland county Pennsylvania, August 1, 1822. She accompanied her parents to Stark county, Ohio, in 1832 and came to this county in 1836 to live with a married sister, Mrs. Andrew Moorhead. In 1841 she was united in marriage to John Cusac. They spent many years on the home place now occupied by Robert Cusac and she had made that
place her home continuously until a short time ago when she went to reside with her daughter where she died. While a resident of the above named place a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cusac which made four generations residents of the same house at the same time. Her husband died April 13, 1903. Mrs. Cusac was the mother of eight children and the last member of
her family of fourteen children. The hardships and privations of early pioneer life aided her in strength and health which were only undermined by the gradual reduction of vital forces due to old age. Her physical condition was wonderful and she was able to walk long distances in her late years which would have tested the endurance of a younger person. She had the distinction of being one of the pupils to attend the opening of the first school in Portage township. Allen Cooper, of Findlay, is now the only other surviving member of that school. Two children survive this remarkable pioneer, Mrs. Mitchell, with whom she resided and one son William J. Cusac of Liberty township. Seventeen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at the home where she died, Sunday morning with Rev. W.L. Alexander, of the Presbyterian church officiating of which denomimnation the deceased had been a member for 75 or 80 years. Interment was made at Maple Grove, Findlay.

DIED- On the 13th ult., at his residence, in Union township, Mr. Philip Cramer, aged 84 years and 6 months
Mr. Cramer was one of the first settlers in this County. He embraced christianity at an early age, and was for many years a preacher in the United Brethren Church.

Mrs. Rachel Peabody died yesterday at her home in the Findlay Heights addition, aged sixty years. The deceased had been a sufferer with stomach trouble for a number of years and this ailment was the cause of their death. The funeral will be held from the residence at 10 o'clock Sunday morning and interment will take place in the Van Horn cemetery in Amanda Township.

MRS. F. M. PEABODY SUCCUMBS AT 77
Findlay Woman Passes Away Thursday Evening Due to Apoplexy Stroke

Mrs. Frank M. Peabody, 77, died at 7:10 o'clock Thursday evening at her residence, 315 Factory street, from a stroke of apoplexy. She had been in failing health for several years and bedfast for three and a half weeks. Mrs. Peabody was born March 9, 1864, in Fayette county, but had lived in Hancock county for 57 years, coming here from Sinking Springs, O. Her parents were Robert and Mary (Adams) Tudor. She was married July 8, 1883 to Frank M. Peabody who survives.
Mr. and Mrs. Peabody observed their 58th wedding anniversary this month. Four daughters, two sons, a brother, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also are living. The daughters and sons are Mrs. Harry G. Howard and Mrs. F. L. Bartch, both of Findlay; Mrs. George Barrow, of Goshen Ind.; Mrs. W.R. Cavins, of Toledo; Cloyd Peabody, of Corsicana, Tex., and Harry Peabody, of Bedford, O. Ben Tudor, of Findlay, is a brother. A great-grandaughter died a few years ago.
A daughter, Mrs. Nellie Mitchell, a brother and one sister preceded Mrs. Peabody in death. She was a member of the Howard Methodist church for 51 years. She also belonged to the Bethany Sisters class of the church. The body was taken to the Coldren funeral home where services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. A. E. Grant, pastor of the Howard church, will officiate and interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

AGED RESIDENT IS CALLED BY DEATH

Francis Marion Peabody Succumbs at Age of 82; Rites Not Set

Francis Marion Peabody, 82, died at 8:30 o'clock Thursday evening at his home at 315 Factory street. Death was due to infirmities of age. He had been in failing health for seven months. Mr. Peabody was born Feb. 26, 1862, at Sinking Springs, O. His parents were John and Rachel Peabody. He came to Findlay 60 years ago. On July 1883, he was married to Phoebe Tudor who died July 24, 1941. He is survived by six children, Harry H. Peabody, of Bedford; Cloyd M. Peabody, of Codsicana. Texas; Mrs. W.R. Cavins, of Toledo; Mrs. Floris Bartch of 308 Lima avenue, Mrs. George Barron, of Goshen, Ind.; and Mrs. Harry Howard, of 423 Clinton street. A daughter, Mrs. Harry Mitchell, a sister, Mrs. Sara Freeze, and a brother, James Peabody, are dead. Mr. Peabody was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church. The body was taken to the Coldren funeral home where it will remain for services. The time had not been set last night, pending word from the son in Texas. Rev. John Cole, pastor of the church of which he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Obit for Mrs. Nellie Mitchell

Mrs. Nellie Mitchell died at 5:30 Sunday morning in Allen township. She had been seriously ill with pneumonia one week. She was born in Hyland county, in 1884. The parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peabody, live on Factory street of this city. In 1893 she married Harry Mitchell. Those who survive are four children. Gladys, age 14; Grace, age 12; Lillian, age 4; a baby Raymond one and a half years old; four sisters, Carrie Peabody living at home, Mrs. W. Cavens of West Crawford street, Mrs B. Hoffman of Lorain, O. Mrs. Harry Howard at home and two brothers, Harry Peabody of Akron, and Cloyd Peabody of Texas. Mrs. Mitchell was a meber of the Howard M.E. church. The funeral will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. W.L. Alexander will officiate. Burial will be made in Maple Grove.

EARLY PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH

William Cusac Succumbs to Long Illness,
Was Descendent of County Pioneer Family - Spent Years on Home Farm - Lifelong Church Member

Following an illness of over two years, William Cusac, of Liberty township, died at his late home, Sunday noon, at the age of eighty two years. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
He was born in Perry County in 1834 and was a son of Mr. and Mrs Daniel Cusac, who were among the first settlers of Hancock county. The deceased was united in marriage to Miss Phoebe Cooper, of Liberty township. Four children were born to this union of whom, Amos Cusac, of near Hancock Station; Mrs. Frank Shannon, of Findlay, and Daniel, living on the home place, survive. One brother, Mr. Issac Cusac, formerly of McComb, but now of Findlay, the last member of that generation, also survives.
Mr. Cusac was a lifelong and active member of the Blanchard Presbyterian church and devoted to his duties until failing health compelled his retirement. Funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. W.L. Alexander, of McComb, officiating. Interment was made at Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay.
