1806 Will Joseph McHenry
Hamilton County, Ohio

In the name of God. Amen. I, Joseph McHenry, of the State of Ohio, County of Hamilton, Township of Cincinnati, being in a weak and low state of health but of sound mind and memory and knowing the certainty of death, do hereby make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

First, I do hereby appoint my sons, Enoch McHenry and Van McHenry, my executors, to transact all business relative to my estate and worldly goods
agreeable to this my last Will and Testament.

As soon after my decease as may be convenient, I order and direct my said executors to pay my funeral expenses and all other just debts, to enable them to do this it is my will that they make sale of all my personal property except such part thereof as my wife, Hannah, may think proper to keep for her own use which she is to dispose of as she may think proper. I further direct that my said wife is to have the use of my whole farm where I now live during her natural life and after her decease, it is to be divided by a line drawn due east and west through the center of said farm the south half I do hereby give and bequeath to my son Enoch McHenry and the north half I do hereby give and bequeath to my son Van McHenry.

I do also give to my daughter, Euphran Williams, two hundred dollars, and I also give to my daughter, Rebecca McHenry, two hundred dollars and also to my daughter, Rebecca, I give my draw mare known by the name of the Nelson mare with a saddle and bridle, and to my granddaughter, Hannah Cox, I give one feather bed and such bedding as her grandmother may think proper and one cow and fifty dollars and after the debts are all paid the balance that may be left arising from the sales of my personal property is to be applied to the payment of the legacies of my daughters, Euphran and Rebecca, and my granddaughter, Hannah Cox, but if there should not be a sum sufficient to discharge to the legacies, I, do hereby, order and direct my two sons to pay the balance, whatever it ____ be, in two yearly payments in manner following____ payments to be made in one year after the decease of my wife, and the second in two years from her decease,  the payment last mentioned if made by my sons, to be made in property at the valuation of persons chosen by the parties and my executors before named are hereby required to execute and carry into effect this my Will and Testament  and I do hereby resoky? And disannul all wills heretofore made by me.

In witness whereof , I, do hereby set my hand and affix any seal this twenty-fifth day of August , one thousand, eight hundred, and six.

John Ludlow, Andrew Myers, and Robert Hill

Letters testamentary granted unto Van McHenry and Enoch McHenry on the estate of Joseph McHenry, dec. Vol. 1, P 152.  It is now ordered by the court that the said will be recorded and the same is now done from the said original will and that said record have the same force and effect as said original record.
