Departed this life on Monday last, Mrs. REBECCA WEST, consort of the Rev. SAMUEL WEST, and former wife of Dr. ALLISON, of this city. The acquaintances of this lady were extensive: and her long residence in this city had endeared her to a numerous circle of friends---He character for benevolence shone conspicuous: not, indeed in the mere outward forms of charity. but in the alleviations of the distressed whereever opportunities offered, in such manner as to gain her the affections of the poor, and the plaudits of the pious. Mrs. W was an active member of several female charitable institutions, and in this capacity , contributed larely to the feeding of those who not only require temporal sustenance, but also the " sincere milk of the word of Christ" Twenty-five years membership in the Methodist Episcopal Church, had poduced from her many "works unto righteousness, " and her pious and exemplary life, created no dreadful anticipations of futurity, but caused her to exult in the triumph of death, in a glorious prospect of immortality and eternal life.

The funeral of Mrs. WEST was attened by a large concourse of citizens, convened to pay the last tribute of respect to a patron of piety, and a sincere and devoted friend. the Rev TRUMAN BISHOP delivered a forcible address on the occasion, in which was fully exhibited the importance of early attention to the imperious demands of religion, and the good effects attendant thereon, exemplified in the happy death of Mrs. W A husband and two children are left to lament the departure from time to eternity, of a companion and guardian.
