I am currently working on this section (5/12/15), checking links etc. In doing so, I've realized that over the past few years much has changed (for the better) as to what is available to researchers of Hamilton County Ohio. In attempting to update the links and expand on the currently available information researchers may be interested in, I've realized that much of this has been adequately been covered by the Hamilton County Genealogical Society (HCGS) and their volunteer team of experts in Hamilton County records. With that in mind, I am going to attempt to revamp this page with links to their information which in turn will provide you, the researcher, information on what records are available and where you can find them.

Death Records

Note:  Birth & Death Records in Hamilton Co. are and have been recorded in a variety of places depending upon where the birth/death occured (not necessarily where they "resided"). In many cases it may take a study of the period. Was recording of births or deaths law in that time period? One must even look at boundaries at the time of birth or death. The city of Cincinnati is much larger now than it was say, 1900, due to annexations. Most of the major hospitals were within the boundaries of Cincinnati, so, even if a person resided outside the city limits but was born or died in one of these hospitals, the birth or death record would be found at the City of Cincinnati Health Department.

The Hamilton County Genealogical Society (HCGS) have over the years done much to preserve the records of Hamilton Co., OH through their many publications that include cemetery, marriage, & death records (to just name a few), but also their help with the digitation of Hamilton County Court Records and helping to not only get those records online, but explanations of what those records are, besides where to find them! They have, over the past few years made available to the public several databases of index's to their published books, besides a few that are only available to members ($15 for an E-membership). I can't begin to explain all they have on their website, so I encourage you to check the link out yourself :-)
