NORTON, SILVERNAIL, TERWILLIGER posted by Pete Henderson on Thursday, March 26, 2009
I am researching my great-great-grandmother, Minnie M. Norton, I beleive she was born about 1866 in Burton Township. She was the daughter of James Norton and Caroline Silvernail. My great-grandmother, Clara Mae Terwilliger was Minnie's daughter. I know that Clara's father was George W. Terwilliger and that he left Minnie and Clara and eventually settled in Seattle, Washington where he started a new family. I have found their marriage took place on August 30, 1885 in Geauga County, probably Burton. I have been able to trace the Silvernails quite a ways back, but I don't have any information on James Norton, beyond I beleive he was born about 1832 in New York. If you could provide me with any clues to both Minnie's and James fate, I would appreciate it. My great-grandmother, Clara Mae's daughter, Clara Harriet Johnston was born in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, and eventually moved to Sacramento, California, where I was born. Thanks for any help you can provide, Pete Henderson Cary, NC

MASON posted by Jennifer Lawrence on Monday, March 30, 2009
Looking for information on the "Mason" family. From the information I have access to, it appears that the family is from the Geauga County area. I have the following names: Eugenia H. Mason (born early 1800's) Robert W. Mason (died early 1900's) Helen Mason Anderson (died 4-14-1910) Eva Anderson (daughter of the Rev. R.E. Anderson. She had daughters by the name of Edith and Ida Anderson, and was the sister of B.D. Ames of Chardon). My dilemma is this, I live in Asheville, North Carolina. I am in the process of cleaning out and storing all of my randmother's things. There was a woman that lived with my grandmother (a dear friend to her) many years ago. She lived in Asheville until she passed away. I have hardly any information on her at all. I know that her name is M. Mason and that she was a retired from teacher from California. When she passed away, all of her belongings and family heirlooms stayed in my grandmother's home. The most resourceful item that I have found is a Holy Bible printed in 1870. The name, written in the front of the book, is Eugenia H. Mason. In the family records section of the bible, it appears that obituaries were clipped from local newspapers and pasted onto these pages. They are all very old. In addition to the Bible, I have located a number of heirlooms and relics that are of great historical value. There are three land deeds for property throughout the United States that were signed by the President during the land rush. I can not simply send these items away without knowing that I have tried my best to find Ms. Mason's relatives and pass these things on to them. They certainly meant a great deal to her seeing how they are all in near perfect condition. It is simply amazing. Any information or advice you have for how I should continue my search would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jennifer Lawrence 86 Red Oak Ln.
