Sarah Arzelia HORTON (my great great grandmother) and John James GOFF were married in Huntsburg, Geauga county, Ohio on Sept. 21, 1855 according to my family records. The minister who performed the ceremony was Rev. Pomeroy. Sarah was from Greene, NY and both she and her husband were tailors (eventually). DILLINGHAM, OWEN, OWENS, SWIFT posted by Carol Williams on Tuesday, October 7, 2003
Is anyone researching SWIFT and OWEN in Geauga Co.? I show a Sylvanus SWIFT who m. Lucinda OWENS 7 Jul 1819 in Geauga Co. This could be the Sylvanus who was living in Cayuga Co. NY abt. 1818, in which case, he would be the son of Reuben SWIFT and Ruth DILLINGHAM. Reuben and Ruth and their other children, Deborah, Calvin, Eliza and Abiel Swift were in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH by 1820. It's likely they all traveled through Geauga Co. and possibly Sylvanus and Lucinda stayed. To my knowledge, these people were all Quakers, coming originally from Falmouth, Barnstable Co. MA.
