SURNAMES: MACLEOD, MCLEOD, MCCLOUD
I'm looking for information on Norman Mac Leod--also spelled Mc Leod, Mc Cloud, etc. He seems to have been one of the first settlers in Gallia Co. He seems to have died between 1818-1820. That is, he's mentioned in various lists as a Tax Payer in 1806, 1810 & 1814, as a census resident, etc. (and I'm told) in documents until c. 1818 and doesn't appear in the 1820 census. His children, Norman & Mary Ann appear in Perry Twp in the 1830 & 1840 census. His wife was said to be named Nancy but her lastname is unknown. Family folklore has it that they were both born in Scotland but I've found no documentation or mention of his name before he shows up in Ohio. I'm descended from his daughter Mary Jane "Jenny" who married Adam Griffith in Gallia Co in 1810 (I'm told). Are there any documents in which his wife's maiden name, his and her birthplace, birthdates, and parents' names would appear? Is his will listed in the Gallia Co. records? Does his obituary appear, etc. Would any of this appear in his death records or Jenny & Adam's marriage records?

SURNAMES: MENAGER
I would like to make contact with anyone doing research on the Menager family. I have important documents relating to the Menagers in the 1850s-1880s. Names, places of residence, family relationships, historical anecdotes, etc. The information I have is a collection of letters and legal papers handed down through my mothers adopted family (the Menagers). I personally am not researching the Menager family but thought someone in the family might still be in Ohio and be interested in knowing a little of their history. The letters are mainly between the Menager brothers Peter, Louis, and Claudius. Also quite a few letters from their Mother to Peter and Louis. Peter moved to Leavenworth Kansas in 1856 followed shortly by Louis. Claudius was living in Saline Co. Missouri during most of the timeframe of these letters. Sometime during the 1860s Louis moved to St. Louis Mo. The Kansas State Historical Society has agreed to accept all of this material and to transcribe them and make them available to the public.
