Surnames: NEWMAN, WELSCH
Researcher: Joanne N. Bailey
Email: [email protected]
Date posted: Sunday, May 16, 1999

I am searching for information about the Newmans who lived in Renoyldsburg, Ohio (near Columbus). My gr gr grandfather was sent to live there with family members after his parents died. His name was John Newman Jr. He was born in 1844 Morgantown W. Virginia and married a women named Nancy Male, who was born Aug. 19, 1854, where I don't know, and died Oct. 22, 1913. They had three children, Ruby, Laura (or Laurie), Emma, and Emmet. Emmet died very young at the age of eight.

Ruby married a man by the name of Samuel Welsch, (also from Franklin County). The two had three children, my grandfather, Howard Sameul Welsch, born Nov. 8, 1903 in Columbus, Edgar Carroll Welsch, and John Earl Welsch, born Feb. 4, 1909 in Marion Township, Franklin County, Ohio.

Part of my problem is that Ruby died Oct. 30, 1910 in Bannings Crossing, Ohio. When that happened Sameul Welsch gave the children away to her sister, Emma. He then refused to have any contact with them. For that reason, my grandfather refused to make any effort to fine out about Samuel Welsch's family. The information he did have on the Newman family is not very accurate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joanne N. Bailey

Date posted: Tuesday, May 18, 1999

Greetings!

I am just beginning a genealogy study of my dad's family. The only way that I know to do it is to work backward, and I haven't the foggiest idea of how to begin. All this stuff I've read on the Net leaves me feeling like I'm wearing a rubber hat. There seem to be a zillion choices to make.

My dad's name was Ernest Earl ENGLISH, who, I believe, was born in Franklin County, July 23, 1914. His parents were James W. English, who came from Pennsylvania, and Mary Edna SNEDEKER, who may have originally come from Delaware County, OH. Beyond that, I'm totally lost.

If you can point me in the right direction, I'll sure be grateful.
