My Abraham and Diadama (CRIPPEN) SPENCER were in Margaretta when Erie county was carved out of Huron. They were in Huron as early as 1831. I can't find a thing about them in either county. They seem to have been absolutely NOBODYS. They lived in Erie county until 1848 when they left for Lake county, IN where they lived out their days. Children were: Isaac who married Lucretia Hemenway in Huron county in 1836, Orsemus m. Amanda Varneman in Knox county in 1840, Caroline m. Warren Daniels, Lusetta died in 1848, Stephen, Arza, Eleazer, Phinias, and Elizabeth. I need any teeny bit of information on this family. Frances (SPENCER) [email protected]

I am looking for Willard BROWN in the 1840 Census of Erie County.
I cannot seem to find an index to the 1840 Census of Erie County. It is not on the Broderbund CD or in the AIS. Was the 1840 Census for Erie County destroyed, or something?

I am searching for any information available on Perry E. WELLS who was born in Clyde, Ohio 23 April 1869 or any member of his family. We believe his father's name to have been Henry WELLS and Henry's wife may have been Siner HINKLEY. Perry E. Wells moved from Clyde and married Pearly BALL in Napoleon, Ohio. We do not know what became of Pearly Ball but Perry was later remarried. Perry's second wife was Mamie GUYER. Perry died in the 1920's at the Soldiers and Sailors home in Sandusky, Ohio.
I will be most grateful for any information you can find about Perry E. Wells, Henry Wells, Siner Hinkley, Mamie GUYER, or any related family member. Thank you!

Maggie, My name is Tom Jenkins ([email protected]) from Texas. I am doing research on the JENKINS, SARR, MARSH, and FOX of Erie County, Ohio. To the best of my knowledge they began to come into Erie County in the 1840's settling in the Berlin Township area. The birth and death records did not begin until 1867. That is 27 years of void. If anyone is doing any work on these families I need help. I am willing to share what I have so far.

Hi Maggie,
I tried to send this request a week or two ago through your web site and haven't heard anything so perhaps my request went into that black hole you mentioned.
I am looking for marriage certificate info for Martha NEUN and Alfred COLETTE who I believe were married in Ohio in 1879. Specifically I would like the date and the parents names, of course I will take anything else too. I think I found Martha's family (Jacob and Catherine Neun) in the 1870 census of Erie Co, Florence Twp, Ohio, so I suspect they were married in Erie Co. I am trying to verify that this is the correct family.
Thanks for your help. George
