My families were in Erie Co from c1850 to 1900's and probably descendants are still there. Brothers, Henry & James Purdy arrived in Erie Co from Elgin Co. Canada in 1846, they moved on to Sanilac Co, MI sometime during the 1850's. Later on, in 1861 in Erie Co, another brother, John C. PURDY married Frances SWEET, d/o Isaac SWEET & Catherine FOWLER, d/o Morris FOWLER & Catherine SNYDER. John & most of his family, and the Isaac Sweet family, are buried in W. Milgrove cemetery. (I'm unable to find the final resting place of the FOWLER'S)

John and Frances PURDY had the following children:
William I. b: 1862 m: (1) Nettie Gallagher (2) May FRAZIER
Ernestine (Tina), b: 1869 m: (1) Rezin KELLY (2) William STEWART
Orson, b: 1866, d: 1968 m: Ruby Rudder
Leselle, b: 1879

I believe there may be descendants of Tina & Wm Stewart in Erie Co, possibly Kelly descendants too. If any of these surnames are familiar, or if you have ancestral information I am happy to share my research. I know that the parents of Henry, James & John were Obadiah & Priscilla PURDY, who also emigrated from Elgin Co, Ontario, Canada. I've been unable to find out what happened to Obadiah (said to have been a lock-tender in Huron, OH)

Interested in anyone finding information on Nelson DIMICK, owning land in Erie Co. in 1851. He was at that time in the county of Whitley, Indiana. Believed to have come from Medina Co., OH [in 1840 census of Westfield Twp.] to Erie Co. and might be in 1850 census there before moving on to Whitley Co., IN. Can anyone do a lookup for me, or let me know who to contact at the Court house for land info? Thanks. Bev. DePoy.

JACOB BOUCK (abt 1757-1839 or 1777-1859) m. MARIA FRANCE
ch:
DAVID (10/6/1785)
CATHARIN
EVA (10/13/1787)
JOHN (8/27/1791)
BARNARD (9/17/1801)

The son named Barnard may be my ancestor, BARNEY BOUCK -

BARNEY BOUCK (b. NY) m. CLARISA/CLARANA (poss. Emily Clarana) SPARLING (b. NY)
ch:
JOHN STACY BOUCK (b. 1823 NY) - my grgrgrandfather
possibly other children???

This Bouck family moved from NY to OH about 1825-1830.

A biography of one of John Stacy Bouck's sons states that his grandfather (who he called John) was a brother of WILLIAM C., "the governor", but I haven't found any documentation substantiating this claim.

Thanks -
Ginny Arveson
