St. Lawrence Cemetery is located on the north side of Rockside Road, west of Interstate 77 and West Creek Road. The cemetery got it's name from the small church that was, at one time, in the middle of the cemetery. The original church was made of wood, and when it burned down, it was replaced by a stone church. Later, as the congregation grew, a new church was built on Chestnut Road and was named St. Michael's.
The old St. Lawrence church was used as the cemetery chapel until it was torn down.
|Lorraine "Sunny" Newsome, my co-coordinator, passed away recently. Shortly afterwards this site was attacked by a MALWARE. When it was discovered, the site was appropriately shut down by Rootsweb. Non-infected files have been uploaded but in the process some files were lost as they were ones Sunny had worked on and I did not have copies at all or have outdated copies. Please let me know about any missing or broken links.|
