I am interested in locating some information on this SMITH and WEITY lineage base on the Obit on my Great-Grandaunt Mahala JACKSON below and her descendants.
Obituary From the Salem News 19 Jan 1922
Mrs. Mahala Smith, 84, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at her home, 77 West Pershing Ave. For several months Mrs. Smith had been in failing health and death was due to a complication of diseases. Mrs. Smith, daughter of John and Mary Jackson, was born Sept 11, 1837, at Goshen Center, where she spent her early girlhood. She came to Salem while quite young and was united in marriage with Edwin Smith more than 60 years ago. One brother, Thomas Jackson, one son, Montgomery Smith, a randdaughter, Mrs. Charles WEITY, and three great grandchildren all of Salem survive.

I have a land deed(Hancock, County OH) from my great great grandfather, William MORRISON. It states he was from Columbiana County, Ohio. I can find no further information on him. He bought the land in Hancock County in 1837 so he resided in Columbiana County prior to then.

In 1860 they are listed in Liv.Twp. pge 164 with children: George age 8 Ross age 6 Sarah J age 4 Rebecca age 2 Thomas age 2/12 John was a son of Alexander and Rebecca Babb Geddes. John and family are not in the 1870 census but in 1880 he appears,living alone ina boarding house. What happened to his family?

HAMILTON SHAW came to Columbiana (Elk Run Twp)ca. 1805 from Northumberland Co PA. Like to know when he died, where buried, name of wife. Daughter Jane married MOSES DICKEY & both are buried in Bowman Cemetary in Columbiana. Son Jonathon married Catherine CREAGER(Krieger, Crieger, etc). Have heard an 1896 article from Rogers, OH newspaper contains interesting SHAW/DICKEY family history of massacre during Revolutionary war. A later Hamilton SHAW married Martha VALLANDIGHAM Turner - like to know her relationship to Clement Vallandigham the politician, suspect she was an aunt.
