Wood Hill Cemetery
Burt Reed Road-Wood Hill Cemetery Road,
part Washington Township – part Franklin Township.
N 38° 48.312 W 084° 08.908
Take St.
Rt. 52 out of New Richmond towards Chilo. At Chilo
turn left on St. Rt. 222.
At the top of the hill is Burt Reed Road on left. This is a
narrow road. Continue forever
on this road until it comes to an end. If you go right the
road will continue. You will want
to turn left and then continue straight to descend up the grassy hill
until you come to a metal
gate to your left. The cemetery is behind this metal
gate. The ground is very uneven and
not easy to walk on. I would not plan on visiting during
early spring or wet weather – you
may get stuck on this grassy hill.
Pictures and additional inscriptions taken by Pamela Smith
and Debra
Thomason,
volunteer, helped one day. There are a lot of missing stones
that I could not figure
out what happened to them. We probed and dug
continually. There is a very interesting
iron fence in the cemetery and definitely some very old burials we
could not find (listed below).
