Austin - Doty Family of Butler County, Ohio

Arrived 1813: Aaron Austin and Hannah Doty Austin from Vanango CO PA. via the Ohio river. Aaron was a mill builder at Oxford 1 1/4 miles North of town in Four mile valley and creek, mill was located where the covered bridge is now. Their farm house was on the east side of the road befor the fork. Born 1778 NJ, Aaron was a farmer, mill owner, member of the Presbyterian church (split off in 1841), original Oxford Library. He raised at least 14 Children before passing in Jan. 1860. Hannah Doty Austin was the dau. of Samuel Doty and Mary Brown Doty, Samuel lived in Liberty twp. and passed in 1828, his son Samuel is well known in history of the area.

The Doty family are direct decendants of Mayflower passenger and signer of the Mayflower Compact - Edward Doty. Hannah was born in 1783 NJ, known as an industrious woman. passing in 1865.

1802 Moses Austin born PA lived in Butler Co. from 1813 to death 1890. Farmer on Austin farm and resident in Preble Co Israel Twp at times. Married Abigail abt 1828.

Hetty (before 1810) married James Edwards abt 1827
Susannah (before 1810) married Ben Gillespie abt 1830

Samuel Austin 1810 PA - farmer - married Rachael Bishop 1835 Preble Co.
    moved to Indiana Randolph Co 1860 to death 1890s.
Zadock 1812-1855 cripple, used 4 wheel chair to get around
William 1813 OH - Teamster - moved to Tn after 1865 married Eleanor Crane abt 1840
Ben Franklin Austin 1814 - millwright - 1890s College Corner married Eliza Jane Jones, worked Austin Mill, moved to College Corner in later years.

Jesse Austin 1815 - farmer - 1904 married Sarah Ann Chany in 1841, moved to IN. 1860 after fathers death. (My line)

Sarah Austin 1817- married Abner Ogle
Mary Austin - married James Edwards died 1840.
Hannah Austin 1824 - married Teacher John Gage in 1840s moved back east.
Alex Washington Austin 1827 - farmer, threshing machine - married Lydia Freeman
    both are buried at Oxford Cem South of town. died 1876-77.
Martha Austin 1828 - died 1860? left estate to Francis Austin (unknown)
