SMITH, Ransom, born about 1803 or earlier in Manchester Township, Bennington County, VT - Son of Nathan and Rosanna Smith. Lived in Belmont County, OH, in 1830's. May be the Ransom Smith who purchased land in R 10, T 09, S 03, on April 3, 1832, in Belmont County. His wife may have been Frances or Rebecca. His oldest son was Jesse.

WILLIAM L. WEBBER married ELLA BUFFINGTON in Belmont County,OH in 1864. He was a carpenter. They had 3 children. I am interested to know if he died in Belmont County and also if ELLA C. BUFFINGTON is the same as ELEANOR BUFFINGTON.

Hello, I am looking for the parents of Joseph BAKER b.11 Jan 1818, OH.- d.1 Oct 1894,Wabash Co,IN. He was married 8 Mar 1837,Coshocton Co.,OH to Elizabeth Louise Vandine b.12 Feb 1817,OH. Her parents were Thomas VANDINE 1794-1877 and Margret WAY 1793-1876. It looks as if members of the VANDINE and WAY families where in Belmont Co.,OH ca 1830s. I find them living close to Bakers and am looking for anyone researching these BAKERS. I suspect Joseph BAKERS father was also named Joseph BAKER. These families married and migrated to Wabash Co., Idiana. Thanks, Dave Baker

I am looking for the parents of George GILLESPIE. He was born in Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio, in 1810 (d. 1872). He married Elizabeth HENDERSON in 1835. She was also born in Belmont County, in 1818 (d. 1886). I think George's father's name was James, but I don't know.

I am looking for information on the Hayes family from Belmont County, Ohio. I connect with Manly or Manely Hayes born Aug. 23,ABT.1811 died April 21 1893. His son Abraham born abt. 1861 died Aug. 8 1945? Abraham was married to Amanda Carpenter Hayes and had (among others) Clara Hayes Mercer born May 6 1882 died Jan 26 1954. All but Clara are buried in the Boston Cemetery in Belmont County, Ohio. Clara is buried in the Jerusalem cemetery, Monroe county, Ohio. I have old letters dating from 1941 to 1948 written by Edmund Ray Hayes of Huntington,West Virginia cousin to my GG Aunt (sister of Clara Hayes) Letha Fogle of Barnesville, Ohio. I will share these letters with anyone interested. I would also love to hear from anyone with any information on these people and other connected to this family. Kristi

I am searching for information on my grandfather, Harley G. Athey. I believe he was born Harley Whitney and then adopted by William T. Athey. According to the census, William was Harley's Uncle. Harley married my grandmother, Hazel Ferne Kocher, and they lived in Belmont County/Armstrong Mills, Ohio. Harley was born on February 8, 1901 ad died March 15, 1971. looking for any information on Thomas R Morgan who was born around 1817 in PA. His daughter Virginia was born in Belmont co 1851 and I think he is in the Wheeling area in the 1850 census which I have not had a chance to check out. His wife's name was Elizabeth who was born 1828 in Virginia. He was living in West Virginia before and after her birth.
