There may have been 3 sisters, too. Family is originally from Belgium and JENKINS not original name. Frank married Edith COOK and they are in the 1920 Fed Census. All other information is spotty. His first wife was Rachel (unknown) according to one source, or Sarah BURRIS according to another source. Did they marry in Belmont Co., OH? They had 8 children, all born in Ohio -- Thomas (b. ca. 1807-08), Rachel (b. Feb. 9, 1811, in Belmont Co. near the Harrison Co. line), Nathan (b. April 19, 1813), John (b. From Belmont Co., James took his family to Warren Co., OH, where son Thomas and dau. Rachel married, 1832 and 1828, then to Tippecanoe Co., IN, about 1838 where James C. WESTLAKE md. 2) Dec. 19, 1843, Tippecanoe Co., IN, to Mrs. Lucy Ann NEVILLE WARREN (widow of Lorenzo Dow WARREN), and they had 3 daughters b. in Tippecanoe Co., IN -- Susan (b. ca. 1844-45), Lucy (b. ca. 1846-47), Christiana (b. Sept. 1, 1848). Is this the same James WESTLAKE that is said to be the son of George WESTLAKE and Mercy or Mary SMITH who came through Belmont Co., OH, from NJ or MD, then PA, and settled in Union Co., OH? I'm looking for information about the CARTER families of Belmont County, Ohio, 1850. I've reviewed the census information available and am now specifically trying to determine the parents of Ephraim Carter (b. abt. 1819). He was living near the following Carters and their families at the time of the 1850 census: Joseph Carter, Hamilton Carter, John P. Carter, Benjamin Carter and Thomas Carter. There was also a John Carter, Sr. in the area but I don't really think he was related to the others ... Can anyone fill in the gaps & tie all these men together? Thanks, Martin Meadows Indianapolis, IN.
