KINSEY posted by John Tylczak on Saturday, June 5, 1999

KINSEY, Christopher (b: NC 1772/ d:OH 1848) & Mary (b: NC 1777/ d. OH 1845). Quaker family moved from North Carolina. Probably in Flushing Twp from 1802-1818. Seeking additional information and contacts who might have researched this family. Specifically anxious to solve the question as to whether they were of the English/Quaker desendents of John Kinsey who settled early in Pennsylvania (1677) or the Swiss desendents John Kinsey who immigrated with his family to New Berne, NC in 1710. Some genealogies list Christopher as the son of Absolom Kinsey and Ridley Hobbs. Two other brothers also settled in Harrison County Richard Kinsey (1774-1856) and Benjamin Kinsey (1782-1857).

DAVIS posted by Rick Fogle on Thursday, June 10, 1999

Am researching a Benjamin DAVIS, born Sept. 20, 1832 in Belmont County. In looking for Davis's in the 1830 and 1840 census (thanks for having them available) I find the following townships are no longer on the map available on your site: 1830 - Morristown, Barnesville, St. Clairsville, Burlington; 1840 - Bel AIr Village, West Wheeling, Martinsville, Burlington. Are these villages/towns or townships that have been absorbed by others? I am helping my mother-in-law find about her grandfather. Is there someone there who has hard copies of the 1840 census if I request some lookups? Davis is a too common surname and Benjamin seems to be all too popular as well. Thanks for any help you can give. Rick Fogle
