COLEMAN,MYERS,MCCONNELL,PIAT,MCFARLAND. I am looking for information about the family of John and Hannah (FARNSWORTH) COLEMAN. They crossed the Ohio River into Belmont County, Wheeling Township, where they farmed and raised seven children including Sarah, Prudence, Mary, Nancy Samuel Nathaniel, John Jr. I would like to find any information relating to this family. James MCMANUS and wife Esther CALVERT MCMANUS died between 1880 and 1895. Possibly buried at Scotch Ridge. Where is Scotch Ridge? (Esther a member of Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church). I'm seeking information on the parents of George Henry TURNER, born ca. 1881-2 in Belmont County, according to his social security application. George's parents were Daisy and William Jasper TURNER. George and his brother (no information on brother's name or age) were either orphaned or left, and were raised by two old women who served as foster parents. George ran away as a young teenager and eventually joined the army, then married and settled in Lawrence County.He died in 1942. Deanna Partlow

I am looking for information on the family of Emily MOORE, born in Flushing Township, Belmont County and probably a daughter of James MOORE who was born in Virginia c. 1794. According to county death records and her tombstone, Emily was born 14 December 1818, but her brother's family bible says 30 June 1819. The family consisted of the following: 1) John Peter MOORE, b. 26 September 1817 m. Cynthia A. HUFFMAN 28 September 1840. Moved to Washington County, Iowa c. 1854 2) Emily MOORE, b. 14 December 1818 m. James VANFOSSEN 19 May 1838 d. 7 March 1883 She and James had three known children: George, c. 1839, Elizabeth, c. 1841 and Mary A., c. 1843 3) Mary Ann MOORE, b. 23 January 1821 4) Henry MOORE, b. 22 June 1822 5) Hannah MOORE, b. 23 February 1825 6) Sarah MOORE, b. 16 December 1826 7) Elizabeth MOORE, b. 6 February 182? Looking for George E. RIDER born about 1850 in Belmont Co. (according to his marriage record.) He married Julia F. MARTIN 31 Oct 1871 in Wetzel Co., W. Vir. This couple does not appear in either the 1880 Belmont Co. census, nor the 1880 through 1910 Wetzel Co. census. Does anyone have any further information on this couple? Were there any children?

My gggrandfather, Andrew GILL, came from Bridgeport, OH, to Marshall County sometime prior to 1850. Anyone doing research on this family? He may have had a sister, Mary J. GILL, who is listed in the 1850 Marshall County, WV Census with him. Andrew was b. 12/15/1823, married Anna BIRCH 06/07/1852 in Marshall County. Have no idea where she was from.

MOSSBURG, MOSSBURGH I am looking for information on three brothers that migrated to Ohio from Frederick MD. Daniel b July 19, 1789, Christian b May 8, 1784, Henry b Sept. 20, 1786. Daniel bought land in Washington County. Christian lived in Belmont and died in Belmont. I have an idea Daniel was here also. Henry was probably in Belmont county but moved to Ross County and then went on to Indiana. Any help would be appreciated. I have alot of information on this family and all of the other siblings.

Trying to locate the cemetery where Joseph KIRKWOOD and his wife Margaret GILLESPIE are buried. It is said to be in the "Kirkwood" cemetery, yet I am unable to locate this cemetery. They are believed to be one of the earlier settlers of the Belmont county area. Joseph is the son of Robert Kirkwood of Delaware, a Revolutionary War veteran.

His father was William MOSSBURG, born in Germany about 1756. Is said to have fought in the Rev. War. My ancestor was Christian's brother, Henry. Anyone researching this family.
