MANLEY - MANLY I'm searching for the parents of Rev. John Manly born in 1789 in VA (unknown county) and died in Henry Co., TN in 1831. Our family legend was that seven brothers arrived in Ohio from Ireland. If the legend is true, the Manly line obviously went on to Virginia, then Tennessee, then Texas. Richard Manly is a known brother (also born in VA.) I've found a William Manly in Kirtlan, Geauga Co., Ohio in the 1830 Ohio census index. The name William carried on through the generations. Although likely not Rev. John Manly's father, finding more information about William could speed up my search and help me determine if in fact the family started out in Ohio. Other Manley/Manly's in the census were found in Adams Co. (Isaac Manley- another family name), Ashtabula Co. (J. Manley and W. Manley), Belmont Co.
