ARMSTRONG - Robert Armstrong & wife Rosannah arrived in Belmont County in 1824 from Westmoreland Co. PA and previously from County Tyrone Ireland. He died 1851, she in 1844. Need info of what townland they were from in Ireland. Also son James born in Ireland ca 1895. Where did he go after leaving family in Belmont. Son Samuel went to Perry Twp. Franklin Co where he died. What happened to other children William,John,Robert, Thomas Margaret and Rose Ann?

WOOLFORD, SHUMAN (SHEWMAN), MISEL - Catharine WOOLFORD b ca 1785 married 16 Apr 1810 to James SHUMAN (SHEWMAN) in Belmont County and second marriage 11 Dec 1817 to John MISEL, b ca Nov 1776 (Germany), in Guernsey County. Catharine WOOLFORD and James SHUMAN Belmont County residents at time of marriage. Have been unable to find information on Catharine or James prior to marriage date. Seeking area of residence in Belmont, possible residence prior to Ohio, family information for Catharine and James, date of death and grave location for James as Catharine is listed as widow at time of second marriage. Also, any children from first marriage? Seeking any Belmont connection for John MISEL. Arrived US ca 1793 and first record is marriage to Catharine SHUMAN although family stories suggest prior residence in Washington, PA area. Suposedly War of 1812 veteran ? state. Resided Beaver Twp, Guernsey after marriage to Catharine. Possibly resident of same when it was Belmont county?

RHODES, WHITE - Seeking parents and sibling of WILLIAM WHITE b.1802/1806 Maryland. He married in 1827 to SARAH RHODES b.1807 Ohio. They had four children Minerva,Caroline,Elizabeth, and Samuel b.1839. Also seeking parents of Sarah Rhodes. The family removed to Monroe Co.OH by 1840, and by 1870 to Pleasants Co. WV.

TONGUET - Stewart & Minerva Tonguet from Bowling Green township, Marion Co. Ohio in the 1880 census! Found them again in the 1900 census in Richland township Belmont Co. Stewart Tonguet was 79 years old during the 1900 census. Would like some help in finding his final resting place, possibly Rcihland tounship? Thanks Tom Watson,

Seeking information on the families; ALEXANDER, WISE and HOWELL. James ALEXANDER and his wife Anna BROTHERS came over from Ireland in the early 1800's. and settled in Belmont County. They had a son John ALEXANDER who married Mary WISE the dauighter of George Wise in 1829.They moved to Delaware County,Ohio and had 5 children; Anna Marie, Harriet J., John MacMillan, James B.and Jane. The father John ALEXANDER died in 1840 and Mary moved back to Belmont county to raise her family.Jane ALEXANDER married Thomas P. HOWELL who was a miner and must have been killed in a mining accident. John MacMillan ALEXANDER worked on the river boats. The family eventually moved to Gallia County, Ohio where John MacMillan became mayor of the town. Any and all information appreciated concerning these families.

TONGUET/TONGRET - Tonguet/Tongret/Tonget: Looking for a little assistance with finding about Stewart & Minerva Tonguet in 1900, he was 79 & she 66. Michael & Sarah tonguet were 46 and 35 in 1900 they all lived in Richland township. Michael was a 'grocer'? In 1925 Irwin & Josephine Tongret living in the town of Neffs were she died 3/20/29.
