COFFIELD, DENHAM, MARTIN, PORTERFIELD, STITT, WETZEL posted by Bill Coffield on Saturday, March 8, 1997

COFFIELD, MARTIN, WETZEL, DENHAM, PORTERFIELD, STITT, McKIRAHAN, and others adjoining. - I am trying to verify that my GGGGF, Benajah (correct spelling) MARTIN was, in fact a descendant of Absolom MARTIN, founder of Martins Ferry. I have nothing but some indications over time that this is true, but I'd like to get some documentation. My GGGF, Adam COFFIELD first married Ruth WETZEL, dau. of Martin WETZEL (s/o Capt. John Wetzel) After her death, Adam then married Sarah MARTIN (d/o Benajah)and after Adam's death Sarah married a Lewis WETZEL (not the famous indian fighter, but a nephew). I want to determine, not only the ancestry of Benajah MARTIN, but, if possible the parents of this Lewis WETZEL. Both lines remain incomplete. I have miles of COFFIELD and related family lists. Happy to share.
