I can help to find links or sources regarding ancestors by placing articles in German newspapers. I am a journalist by profession living in the San Diego, CA, area. What I need to do that is a short history of the ancestors who emigrated to the USA, the town/city/area/region where they came from and of course what kind of information you are looking for. Also, including a picture or two is always a good idea. I am not asking for money in order to do that, but a donation to cover my costs would be nice, as hardly any of the German newspapers is connected to the internet. So I have to write the story, put it into an envelope with the pictures, air-mail it to Germany. Then I follow up with telephone calls to get the story published and ask for 2 copies of the printed story. (

BRAWNER, WILLIAMS posted by Ron Williams on Friday, January 31, 1997

Searching for Jackson WILLIAMS, born 1784 in Virginia and married Margaret BRAWNER, born in 1792. I believe they were married in 1815 in Loudoun county. Children were born in Culpeper county were Charles Fenton Williams born Sept. 16, 1817, Addison M. Williams born Sept. 18, 1819, Addison may have been born in Fauquier. Other brothers and sister were Margaret Amanda Williams, James Williams, Washington Williams and three unknown female children. Jackson was said to have made many trips moving people to Ohio and may have run a freight line. He helped move a Noah Swayne from Virginia to Belmont County, Ohio Jackson and Margaret moved to Ohio in November 1833 with 7 or 8 children. He settled in Coshocton county and our family has been here ever since. I would like to find them in Virginia but so far they have eluded me. I am sure Jackson had brothers or sisters. His sons names Fenton and Addison seem to be unique and undoubtingly named after another relative.Margaret's maiden name BRAWNER may also lead me to The Williams Family. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for is a place I can order a good detailed map of Belmont County. My ancestors had a 1808 land grant in an area of that county where there was a place called Leatherleaf (what ever that means) near Union. Most atlas maps available around here don't seem to have that much detail. Does the State of Ohio have any such maps? Like an official county road map?
