Our Chapter was formed to create and build interest in
preserving and collecting genealogical and historical records
relating to the early settlers of Allen County. We encourage sharing
genealogical information with other Allen County
researchers.
Chapter meetings are held at 2:00 PM at the
Folsum Auditorium in the Allen County Museum, 650 W. Market St.,
Lima, Ohio 45801. The public is always welcome and invited to
attend.
Note the new Civil War Families of Allen County lineage society. Details for membership are included below.

Any interested person may become a member upon the payment of annual dues to the Chapter. Chapter dues are $20.00 per individual per year or $25.00 per year for a joint membership. Joint membership is for family of two (2) persons living at the same address. Joint membership receives one publication only. Membership runs from January through December. If you join during the year, you will receive all the newsletters for the current year.

Were your ancestors in Allen County before 1840?
Then you may be eligible to become a member of the
Allen County First Families. To qualify for a First Families
of Allen County designation, your ancestor must have lived in Allen
County by 1840. You also must be a member of the Allen County
Genealogical Society to participate in the First Family program.
Your application must be submitted by June 1st of each year. Once
your ancestors are proven you will be accepted as a First Family
member. An induction ceremony is held each July of each year to
honor recipients. Honorees receive a First Family pin and
certificate.

Any member of the Allen County
Genealogical Society who is a direct descendant or a
collateral
relative of any person with Allen County ties who
served in the Civil War, for the Union or the
Confederacy, is
eligible to become a member of Civil War Families of Allen County,
Ohio
(CWFAC).
The ancestor or relative must have
lived, died, or be buried in Allen County or served
in an Allen
County military unit or in the "Squirrel Hunters" or
"Spies". Both male or female
ancestors/collaterals are
eligible. Induction of new members of CWFAC is held along with
the
new member inductions for First Families of Allen County,
Ohio in July.
