THE COMPUTER SUITE & CD COLLECTION

A suite of 4 computers is located in workstation. To activate the PC go to the Kapiti branch log in site on the desktop and enter the password. Details of how to use the PCs and the entry password will be found in a help booklet in Drawer 5 of the wooden cabinet adjacent to the open bookshelves.

The CD collection has been grouped in folders (NZ, Australia, etc) on the desktop display. Opening a folder will display the list of available data on CDs. Opening a specific item will show whether the data is already within the PC's system, or if not instruct you to insert the appropriate CD. The set of CDs needed are located in the wooden storage unit, Drawer 5. Please return the CD to the drawer after use. There are a few CD-ROM's which are available only on PC's 1 and 2. Access to the NZ Gazette Archive and Ancestry.com (library version), is direct from the desktop display (click here for instructions). Internet access to other sites is available on all PCs to a variety of genealogicallfamily history international sites. These will be found by going into Internet Explorer and clicking onto the "Favourites" logo. They are grouped in topic folders NZ, UK, etc, ( Open the folder to see what is available; left click to go to the specific site.
