Books Magazines and Reference Material

An extensive collection of reference material, books, magazines and newsletters is held in cupboards and shelves at the Alison Procter Family History Centre. It includes research, trade and postal directories, atlases, conference proceedings, branch newsletters, electoral rolls, newspapers extracts, guides and indexes. The collection is particularly relevant to research covering New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. The bound book collection is catalogued under the Kapiti Coast District Libraries Catalogue and access details are given below. Books so catalogued and not marked Reference Oniy, may be borrowed through the same process that applies to public library books by presenting the items and card credentials at the Issues Desk on the Ground Floor. Borrowing times and rules are the same as those for the public borrowing system

Library Book Holdings as at January 2009

Here are the steps to get a list of books held at the Kapiti Genealogical Library:

Go to http://www.kapiticoastlibraries.govt.nz/
Click on Catalogue link on left hand sidebar.
In Search box enter APFHC
This will bring up a list of results. You can then sort these results by clicking the dropdown menu next to Relevance (on the right hand side of the page.) It gives you options of sorting by title, publication date, dewey number etc.

In the general search box you can of course search for any item you know to be in the collection or search on a topic e.g. church records and registers which will bring up items on that topic held in the library and in your collection
