Old Business

1. The St. Joseph’s Church of Cohoes Books of Marriages and Baptisms and the St. Anne’s Church Waterford Book of Marriages were ordered.

2. TIGS table at Irish 2000 – This was cancelled for lack of volunteers to staff the table.

3. Chris Connell discussed the Old Mt. Ida Cemetery Project closeout. Chris bought a small dogwood tree and three large hydrangea trees to beautify the cemetery. She, Chris Philippo and a neighbor are watering the trees. Chis Connell will meet with the Alumni Assoc. of Phi Sigma Kappa to closeout the grant and give them a walk thru of the project.

Bill McGrath discussed finished and on-going projects.

1. Death Notices in Troy Newspapers 1797-1860: 255 pages were scanned; many thanks to Gail Landrigan. Work on this project started on Aug 27. Less than one month later, 9/17/2015, the transcriptions are being proofread.

Revolutionary War Veterans have been identified and records for them will be added to the database. (One of the transcribers for this project is from New Zealand.)

2. Marriage Notices in Troy Newspapers 1797 – 1860:
537 pages were scanned containing over 13,000 names.
This project is ready to start transcription. More transcribers are needed. Bill will post this call for transcribers to the TIGS subscription list.

3. St. Joseph’s Cemetery Waterford: The computer file consists of 15,000 names. A book of burials from St. Joseph’s Church to St. Joseph’s Cemetery was discovered and compared to the computer file. There are entries in the book that are not on the computer file. Bill McGrath is currently checking all 7,700 entries from the book against the computer file. A – G comparisons are finished; over 350 additional names were found, mostly from the late 1800’s. It also lists names of witnesses to the deaths. One name, Monsieur Duhamel, appears as a witness to 15 deaths. Bill is curious about this and wondered whether the Waterford Museum has any archival information about him.
