President Chris Connell called the meeting to order.

Lizette Strait submitted the Treasurer’s report:

New checking account has been established.

Paid Members 2015 = 74

TIGS currently has 296 List Members & 667 Facebook Likes.

Membership Chair Report: Donna Vaughn reported that membership is down from 2014; there were 101 paid members for 2014 and there are only 74 this year.
Discussion ensued about how to get more members.
Donna noticed there has been some confusion over the difference between joining TIGS and joining the mailing list. Donna will draft wording changes for the website.

Project Updates from Bill McGrath:
St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford: Description: 15,000 names on 98 files. The names are mostly French from the late 1800’s up till the early 2000’s. Status: In Proof Reading & Correction. Next Step: Indexes for cross reference of next of kin will be created.

Civil War – Spanish American War Vets: Description: Lists of burials and erection of headstones. File contains various date and may include date of death, date of burial, age, amount paid, to whom paid, unit name and cemetery. Status: In Process. Next Step:
Determine how to organize the data.

Obituary Notices In Troy Newspapers – 1797 – 1860: Description: Two volume Book of Marriage Records loaned by Troy Public Library. Status: Scanned

Troy Methodist Church Records: Description: Troy Christ Church United Methodist marriage, membership and baptismal records for several Troy Methodist Episcopal Churches. Status: On Hold. Records have been copied onto a thumb drive for transcriptions. Next Step: Create spreadsheet describing the files on the drive for planning purposes.

Other Project Updates (Chris Connell, Jeanne Keefe & Kristin Cooney-Ayotte)

Mt. Ida Cemetery Clean-up Grant (Chris Connell):
$1000.00 grant from The Alumni Assoc of Phi Sigma Kappa – Spent $293.69 for supplies & tools (D2 biological solution, sprayer); tentatively will spend $600.00 for professional help from Gravestone Matters. Status: In process clean-up scheduled for Sat. 6/20. Next Step: Another clean-up in August – will need help if anyone wants to volunteer.

Old West Troy Methodist Episcopal Records (Chris Connell): Description: Records from 1850’s contain 730 baptisms and 586 marriages. Status: On Hold until after the Cemetery Cleanup Project. Next Step: Investigate iPad Scan.

TIGS Random Acts of Kindness (Kristin Cooney-Ayotte): Description: Revise list of resources and contacts for them. Status: Completed!!!

Revise look-up points of contacts and links for Troy Irish Surnames (Jeanne Keefe) – Status: In Process

Website Upgrade (Jeanne Keefe): Description: The website which has 3000 files with numerous webpages inside will be reorganized and upgraded. Status:
Product Chosen – WordPress; also need Adobe Writer

New Business:
A motion to purchase Adobe Writer was made, seconded and passed.


Re-vote taken re: decision to obtain PO Box. Result: Lizette Strait will obtain PO Box for TIGS for 6 months.

Group agreed that the TIGS Charter is in need of review to evaluate purposes and objectives of TIGS as we grow and move forward. Jeanne Keefe recommended that TIGS have a charter committee to review and revise the charter every 10 years and put it up for a vote.

April 2016 Ireland trip details are posted on Facebook.

The Hudson-Mohawk Industrial Gateway Tours 2015 list and reservation form are on the website.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded and passed.

Next meeting June 16, 2015. Chris Connell will contact McGreivey’s in Waterford for availability. If not available, Moscatiello’s will be arranged.
