1. Call to Order:
Tim Stone called the meeting to order
and introduced guest Kathy Fomok.
List members total 276 and Face Book likes total 430.
2. Treasurer’s Report
Lizette submitted the treasurer’s
report that reads as follows:
The previous balance as of December 31, 2013 is $2,609.22: Expenses:
$ $14.03 11/21/13 Check # 1030 Staples for Book Labels. Deposit
$720.00: Balance as of January 13, 2014 is $3,329.22: Petty cash
is $21.63 making total assets: $3,350.85.
Total paid members: 39. Total paid members in 2013 was 85.
3. Project Updates
A. Completed Projects
Styles Funeral Home was added to the
website on January 9, 2014.
St. Mary’s Cemetery Troy Book
#5 – 4,926 names added to website on November 27, 2013.
West Troy Advocate added to website
on December 20, 2013. 380 pages of marriages, deaths and miscellany
news stories with 6,248 surnames and 1,473 subject entries.
Lansingburgh Methodist Church added
to Church Memorials on January 7, 2014.
Fifth Avenue Baptist Church added to
Church Memorials on January 7, 2014.
Removals from St. Mary’s Cemetery,
Albany added to website on January 8, 2014.
Deaths (Troy, Watervliet, Green Island,
Cohoes, Waterford) reported in the 1904 Troy City Directory. This
new data set may be added to the website this week.
B. Projects in the Works
Civil War Soldiers buried in St. Agnes
Cemetery, Menands
1880 census for Troy
Removals from St. John’s Cemetery,
Glenmont to Calvary Cemetery.
Old Watervliet Reformed Church now
home to Watervliet Historical Society
Book 2 and Book 3 of Styles Funeral
Home. All pages transcribed and proofread. Data needs a final review.
C. The Following are projects to consider:
Deaths reported in 1905 Troy City Directory.
Kathy Buckley and Barry Considine did the work on the 1904 City
Directory. A spread sheet for capturing the data along with an instruction
sheet is attached.
The following collection of extracts
from 10 Lansingburgh newspapers are at the Troy Library. This can
be the next big project:
Obits appearing in Lansingburgh newspapers
1787 – 1895 Vol 1 A – K and Vol 2 L – Z
Marriages appearing in Lansingburgh
newspapers 1787 – 1895
If the books cannot be borrowed from
the RCHS or Troy Library, the alternative is to scan the pages at
the library.
4. New Business
Kris reported the trip to Ireland in
April now has 27 people who have submitted deposits. The trip is
scheduled for April 17 – 26, 2014 and is all inclusive for
8 nights for a total of $2,500 roundtrip. Arrival and departure
will be out of Dublin.
All were in agreement the wording on
Roots List should be changed to “Ancestors”.
Donna Vaughn is sending out welcome
emails. She is also looking into genealogy grants, nore information
forthcoming.

Restaurant on February 20, 2014
