5. Ongoing Business
St. Mary’s Cemetery Book 3 added to the website containing
5142 names. This project was mentioned in Time Magazine Genealogy
news.
St. Mary’s Cemetery Book 2 with 149 pages containing
3500 names has been sent to transcribers.
The index to St. John’s Episcopal Church has
been added to Church Memorials. Rebecca Rector, a TIGS member, is
working on the history of this church.
The Removals from State Street Cemetery Index is
being prepared. Information is being gathered from multiple sources
to include as much information as possible. The original list contained
3063 names but will be increased with additional information from
the internet.
6. New Business
As a result of conversation on the TIGS list, Brad Miter, our List
Administrator did some research and was of the opinion that it may
not be worthwhile for TIGS. This information was discussed at the
meeting. Some member feel there is still opportunity for it to be
implemented in order to make dues payment convenient for members.
An informal vote was taken with 2 for and 12 against. Further consideration
will be given if the group is given more information about ease
of setting up and administration.
Donna Vaughn will be conducting a one day seminar,
Introduction to Genealogy, at St. Agnes Map Room on 1/28/12.
St. Agnes lecture series is posted on their website.
Pictures of the headstones and information about
the Civil War Soldiers we adopted has been posted to the TIGS website.
We are looking into arranging a tour of the Irish
American Heritage Museum, recently relocated to 370 Broadway in
Albany.
7. Genealogy Table/Discussion
None this month.
In lieu of a February meeting, the group will meet
at 6:30 Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Waterford Historical
