Volunteers for Scanning:
Jeanne Keeefe is still looking for volunteers to scan The Journal
of the Board of Supervisors of the City of Albany for 1897. Mike
Gilligan volunteered to assist with this project.
Potential Projects, Acquisitions, Memberships,
Donations:
At the January meeting, Gerri Sherry asked everyone to think about
a general project or some way to smartly spend some of the organization’s
funds. She mentioned that in the past, TIGS has purchased books
for the Troy Public Library Genealogy Room.
Jeanne Keefe will need Dreamweaver software to
maintain the TIGS website.
It was suggested and agreed that TIGS will make
a $100.00 donation to the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway.
It was suggested that TIGS contact Christ Church
United Methodist on State St. in Troy to discuss obtaining copies
of their records CD’s. Joan Durso will contact them.
4. New Business
Seminar at St. Agnes Cemetery on Saturday, April 18
St. Agnes will host a NYS Chapter of the Association of Gravestone
Studies seminar. There will be a series of short talks (25 minutes)
in the morning, including a discussion by TIGS’ Donna Vaughn
who will discuss TIGS and its contributions to genealogists (free
searchable databases). It is of note that the Irish are known
for putting their place of origin in their gravestones; this is
invaluable for genealogists.
Overhaul links / Points of Contacts for Troy Irish Surname Listing
Kris Ayotte volunteered to review and manage the
Random acts of kindness contacts.
Joan Durso volunteered report any issues with the
links for the Troy Irish Surname Listings to Jeanne Keefe.
5. Next Meeting & Adjournment:
Since there was no further business to discuss,
a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
The next meeting will be held at Moscatiello’s
Restaurant, Troy on March 19, 2015 at 6:30 PM
Photographic Exhibit
Jeanne Keefe and Patrick Surace’s excellent
photography exhibit entitled, “Ireland: Myth, Mystery and
Beauty” is still on display through the end of March in
the St. Agnes Cemetery Art Gallery. The exhibit is available for
viewing during regular cemetery office hours. Members who have
seen the exhibit recommend it highly.
Respectfully submitted by Joan Durso.
