Minutes of the August 19th, 2010 meeting of
TROY IRISH GENEALOGY SOCIETY
Meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM by President Kris Ayotte.

We had a moment of silence for Bob Sullivan who recently passed
away.
Treasurer’s report (L. Strait) - Not in attendance.
List Administrator (Brad Miter) – reported 224 members
on list.

OLD BUSINESS
Bill McGrath reported:
14 Churches are now on line.
Working on St. Mary’s, Troy St. Patrick’s, and St.
Bridget’s in Watervliet.
St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Scanned first book covering
1900-1910
Jeanne Keefe needs volunteers to assist in scanning St. Mary
cemetery records in her office at RPI.
We are working on several projects using records from Rensselaer
County Historical Society; e.g., Italian Midwife records that
Tim Stone is working on indexing. Rensselaer County Surrogate
Court Records in progress. Peter Reilly is working on indexing
these.
We have transcribers working on the Death and Marriage records
that were copied by the DAR in 1935 from old Troy Newspapers.
Kris said that theTIGS table for the Victorian Stroll in December
will be set up in the RCHS building.
Kris reported there are 17 people going on the Ireland trip.
The Newsletter is still on the table if someone would like to
start it up again.
Former Woodside Church, now a arts center, tour to be held in
the fall.
Kris looked into a company called the Café Press. They
will print any logo on hats, bags, shirts, etc. for us. She needs
a bigger logo.
NEW BUSINESS
It was decided to renew our membership with the RCHS at 50% off.
Troy Little Italy group is planning for an international Festival
of Food, Arts, and Culture to be held on Sat., September 25 at
the Marketplace on Hill Street from 11 am to 7 pm. TIGS will participate.
Kris will set up and Gerri will help man the table along with
anyone else that can help.
Our brochure needs updating and then it was agreed that we will
print 500 copies.
Cleaning of headstones was discussed. If anyone would like to
help just give Kelly from St. Agnes a call.
On September 8th, at 11:00, Bishop Hubbard will be at St. Agnes
Cemetery to bless the headstone that was just erected for the
three orphans that drown in the pond on the cemetery grounds.
Next meeting Sept. 16, 6:30, at Moscatiello’s.
A motion was made by Mike Gilligan and seconded by Dick Boland
to adjourn the meeting.
