3. Project Updates / Ongoing Business
Cemeteries Seminar at St. Agnes Cemetery on April 18 – Donna Vaughn and Bill McGrath will present information about using cemetery gravestones and records to trace family trees.

Scanning and Transcription Projects (Bill McGrath Project Manager)
• Death Notices in Troy Newspapers – Jeanne Keefe needs help scanning the books from the Troy Public Library 1797 -1860; all predate the 1880 NYS law requiring the reporting of vital statistics; there are about 10,000 names and they are different from those from the Lansingburgh Newspaper project
• St. Joseph’s Cemetery Waterford – run by St. Joseph’s (the French Church) in Cohoes – records for 15,000 burials; data includes maiden names
• Erection of Gravestones and Burial of Civil War and Mexican American War Veterans – the Albany supervisor’s minutes that list the names of the veterans for whom the county purchased gravestones; many are buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Watervliet.
• Transcribers are needed to cut & paste from Excel
RPI Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity Neighborhood Grants – Chris Connell – Applications are due Wed. 4/22. Chris and Connell and Chris Philippo will put something together for work that can be done in Mt. Ida Cemetery.
TIGS Business Cards – Donna Vaughn reported the cards are in.
Website Upgrade – Debbie Gilligan introduced Blake McCulley who expressed interest in doing the programming for the TIGS website. The group encouraged him to contact Jeanne Keefe to discuss the project requirements with her.

4. New Business
Troy ME Church records (Christ Church United) - Joan Durso/Bill McGrath - TIGS will transcribe the records and post them to the TIGS website. Pastor Janet from the Church requested that TIGS consider giving the church a donation for the records, that TIGS not charge people for the records and that TIGS acknowledge the church on the website. A $200.00 donation was suggested by Bill McGrath and approved by the members; Lizette Strait wrote a check for the church.
Old West Troy ME records – Chris Connell has the records for the 3rd St. and Washington St. ME Church; there are 1000 baptismal records and 600 marriage records. The Church would probably like a donation also.

Mt. Ida Earth Day (Wed. 4/22) Clean-Up – Chris Philippo & Chris Connell. Chris Connell will send out an e-mail regarding this.

May Election of Officers for June Installation – Proposed slate: Christine Connell – President, Kristin Cooney Ayotte – Vice President, Lizette Strait – Treasurer, Bill McGrath – Project Manager, Donna Vaughn – Membership, Jeanne Keefe – Webmaster, Joan Durso - Secretary

Trip to Ireland’s Great Hunger Museum at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Connecticut – Attendees expressed interest in pursuing this. If sufficient people are interested, TIGS may get a bus.

Spring Cemetery Cleanups – Chris Connell - Continue with St. Patrick’s in Watervliet? Other cemeteries?

5. Next Meeting & Adjournment: Since there was no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The next meeting will be held at Jose Malone’s in Troy on May 21, 2015 at 6:30 P.M. ?

Respectfully submitted by Joan Durso
