REPORTS
Treasurer, Lizette Strait, reported that the current balance was
$3034.86 with 64 paid members.
There were no other reports.
OLD BUSINESS
Volume 10 of the Marriage index, with almost 5000 names is completed
and sent to Jeanne to put on-line. This is the final book in the
series and means that 60,000 names will be on-line. Frank Merola
was sent a draft press release to be issued when Vol 10 goes on-line.
(Bill McGrath) Jeanne Keefe did not have a date for completion.
As it relates to the Church Memorial project, Bill
received responses to his request for help posted to the list. Some
list members outside of the area wanted to help, so now Bill has
another source of transcribers for projects. Volunteers are now
working on; St. Patrick’s in Troy, St. Mary’s in Troy,
St. Patrick’s in Watervliet, St. Brigit’s in Watervliet
and Immaculate Conception in Watervliet. Bill also has records from
St. Mary’s in Albany contributed by Mimi Nicotina.
Book 2 from St. Agnes Cemetery was put on the website
with 6073 names. Bill reports that he overlooked a disc with 65
pages of data. They were sent to transcribers, completed and ready
to go. Resulting in an additional 1972 records to be intermixed
with the previous 6073 records. Bill will forward to Jeanne.
Book 3 from St. Agnes Cemetery is now complete with
11,842 names. Bill will extract the data that Jeanne needs and forward
to her to put on line.
Kris reports that she has had positive response to
the Ireland trip scheduled for 10/13 – 10/21. Interested people
continue to contact her for information. Kris gave some flyers to
members to put in locations where there might be interest.
NEW BUSINESS
Jeanne has several books from St. Mary’s for scanning. There
are no students available presently so this is on hold.
Bill McGrath responded to the posts concerning disintegrating
City Directories at the Troy Public Library. He suggested someone
explore preservation or replacement with some of TIGS dues money.
Jeanne Keefe suggested that someone contact Larry at the Library
to discuss. It was noted that this suggestion was brought up at
an earlier meeting held at The Troy Brewing Company.
Upcoming elections were discussed. Members were queried
into interest in assuming an office. Kris will post to the list.
A slate will be put together and posted for voting.
Kris Ayotte told the group that while participating in Troy Night
Out last month at the RCHS she discussed the Victorian Stroll with
Cathy Sheerhan. Cathy agreed that it would be a great fit for both
TIGS and RCHS to have TIGS set up at RCHS for the next stroll. RCHS
will supply TIGS with space. This will eliminate the need for a
table fee at the Atrium.
UPDATE: Following the meeting Gerri Sherri discussed
responsibility of VP with Kris and then decided that she would be
interested in the position. Timothy Stone also expressed interest
in the position, upon hearing Gerri was interested he decided not
to run.
OTHER BUSINESS
Kris reminded that group that there was an approved motion to reimburse
her out of pocket expenses for the Stroll last December. Kris gave
receipts to Lizette who will send her a check.
GENEALOGY TABLE
A copy of Heritage Hunters from the Saratoga Historical Society
was brought to the meeting by Donna Vaughn for any attendee to review.
A motion was made by Jan Sullivan and seconded by
Richard Boland to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and
the meeting was adjourned at 7:45p.m.
Respectfully submitted by President, Kris Ayotte for
Secretary, Joyce Musco in absentia.
