His obituary appeared on 28 Feb 1993 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "William L. "Chubby' Ritter, Bay Native, Dies . Alexandria Bay. William Louis "Chubby" Ritter, 86, Hallandale, Fla., a native of Alexandria Bay, died Wednesday in Hollywood (Fla.) Memorial Hospital from a blood clot following an operation on Monday.
"The funeral was Saturday at the Robert Greaver Funeral Home, Hallandale. His body will be cremated and his ashes spread over the St. Lawrence River in the summer.
"Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; a son, William B. "Skip," Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a granddaughter; a sister, Leona Ritter Rogers, Clayton, and Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Alexandria Bay, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
"He was born May 24, 1906, at Alexandria Bay, a son of Louis William and Mildred Manning Ritter. He was raised in the Alexandria Bay and Plessis areas, and attended Alexandria Central School. While in high school, he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams.
"Mr. Ritter worked for his father and an uncle, Edwin Rogers, in their grocery and meat markets for several years. He later moved to Florida, where he met Lorraine Beaudoin and married her on Jan. 30, 1936.
"Mr. Ritter was employed by the Burnup & Simms conduit company, Fort Lauderdale, for many years before his retirement.
"He spent summers at Dingman Point, Alexandria Bay." He was cremated. His ashes were spread over the St. Lawrence river.
