His obituary appeared on 16 Mar 1955 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "John W. Hedrick Succumbs At 85. Alexandria Bay, March 16. -- John W. Hedrick, 85, retired pottery worker, died at 6 a.m. today at his home, 66 Church street. Mr. Hedrick had been in ill health for four years with a heart condition.
"Masonic services will be held at the Giltz funeral home at 8 Thursday night. On Friday, there will be a prayer service at the Belle Isle cemetery grave in Syracuse.
"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Ritter Hedrick, and a niece, Mrs. Donice (Susan) Vanisco, Corbet.
"Mr. Hedrick was born Feb. 1, 1870, at Constantia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hedrick. He spent his youth at Constantia later moving to Syracuse where he was employed by the Onondaga Pottery company. His first wife, Mrs. Grace Manning Hedrick died about 1938. About twelve years ago he married his late wife's sister, Mrs. Mildred Manning Ritter, in Ogdensburg. The couple lived for a year in Syracuse before Mr. Hedrick retired after more than 40 years of service. They then moved to Plessis where they lived for about two years, before moving here.
"He was a member of Scriba Lodge 414, F. & A. M., Constantia." He was buried in Belle Isle cemetery, ___, Onondaga, NY.
