Brown Of Potsdam Dies At 71. Potsdam. Charlotte C. Brown, 71, of 5 Debra Drive, died Sunday in Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, where she had been a patient since Friday.
"A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Bitting, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in South Colton Cemetery.
"There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
"Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harry (Sylvia) Carrier, Canton, and several nephews and nieces.
"Born Feb. 12, 1923, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Harold E. and Emma Holmes Cox, she attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. A marriage to Fred Hennigan ended in divorce. She married Thomas Brown in Tupper Lake. He died before her.
"Mrs. Brown was employed at an aircraft factory in Niagara Falls during World War II. She was a foster mother for the Department of Social Services for several years and was a nurse's aide at Sunmount Developmental Center, Tupper Lake, until her retirement in 1985, after 10 years.
"She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a past member and matron of Adirondack Chapter 99 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past member of the Daughters of the Night." She was buried in S. Colton cemetery, S. Colton, St. Lawrence, NY.

Charlotte Cox and Frederick A. Hennigan were married on 20 Apr 1941 in Canton, St. Lawrence, NY. They were divorced. Frederick A. Hennigan (son of Amos Hennigan and Lola Mae Trimm) was born on 20 Apr 1920 in Canton, St. Lawrence, NY. He died on 11 Jul 1995 in Potsdam, St. Lawrence, NY. His obituary appeared on 12 Jul 1995 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: “Frederick Hennigan, 75, Canton Native, Dies. Potsdam. Frederick A. Hennigan, 75, Debra Drive, died Tuesday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 21.
“The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Garner Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Watson officiating. Burial will be in South Colton Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
“Surviving are his companion, Helen McGaw, Pulaski; a brother, Amos, Canton; a sister, Linda Miller, Easton, Pa.; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
“Born April 20, 1920, in Canton, a son of Amos and Lola Mae Trimm Hennigan, he was a graduate of Canton High School and attended Ogdensburg Trade School. He married Charlotte Cox on April 20, 1941, at Grace Episcopal Church, Canton, with the Rev. N. Lascelles-Ward, rector, officiating. She died in 1994.
“Mr. and Mrs. Hennigan were foster parents for several years.
“Mr. Hennigan served with the Army during World War II in the European Theater and was wounded in Germany.
“He was employed with Bell Aircraft Corp., Buffalo, and was a construction worker in Maryland and Niagara Falls. He worked on projects at Racquette River Power Dam, Reynolds Metals and Aluminum Company of America, retiring in 1985.
“He was a member of Elmer Murphy Post 164 of the Disabled American Veterans.” He was buried in S. Colton cemetery, S. Colton, St. Lawrence, NY.
