Redwood -- Mrs. Agnes Mae Johnston, 81, died at 6 a.m. today in the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where she had been a patient one year.
"The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Quincer-Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, Rev. Edgar Hunter, Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery.
"Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
"Mrs. Johnston is survived by a son, Carson, New York City; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Denner, Theresa; six grandchildren; a brother Carl Manning, Redwood and a sister, Miss Kate Manning, Redwood.
"Born Nov. 2, 1892, she was one of eight children of Charles and Caroline Buker Manning of Theresa. she attended rural schools and was married to Walter Johnston in 1911.
"They farmed in the Rossie section until Mr. Johnston's death in 1954, when Mrs. Johnston moved to Redwood. She lived here until her illness a year ago.
"She was a member of the Rossie Presbyterian Church." She was buried in Redwood cemetery, Redwood, Jefferson, NY.

Agnes Mae Manning and Walter M. Johnston were married in 1910 in Theresa, Jefferson, NY. Walter M. Johnston (son of Joseph W. Johnston and Caroline Smith) was born on 5 Nov 1881 in New York City. He died on 14 Jul 1953 in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, NY. His obituary appeared on 15 Jul 1953 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "W. M. Johnston, Aged 71, Expires. South Hammond Man, Long Ill, Dies in Ogdensburg Hospital. Hammond, July 15.--Walter M. Johnston, 71, South Hammond, died in an Ogdensburg hospital yesterday morning about 9, following an illness brought on by a stroke two years ago. He has been seriously ill for the past two weeks.
"Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Eustis funeral home, Hammond. Rev. Donald A. Visscher, pastor of the Rossie Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Redwood cemetery, Redwood.
"Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Agnes Manning Johnston; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Carol) Denner, LaFargeville; a son, Carson Johnston, Ossining; a brother, Joseph Johnston; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Swan, Alexandria Bay, and Mrs. Arthur Seaker, Gouverneur, and five grandchildren.
"Mr. Johnston was born in New York city, Nov. 5, 1881, a son of Joseph and Caroline Smith Johnston. He came at an early age with his parents to Macomb. He served as a first mate on several ships sailing the Great Lakes from 1900 to 1910. In 1910 he married Miss Agnes Manning at Theresa. The couple has been engaged in farming at South Hammond for the past 37 years.
"He was a member of the Oxbow grange, an elder of the Rossie Presbyterian church and a justice of the peace at Rossie for several years." He was buried in Redwood cemetery, Redwood, Jefferson, NY. Agnes Mae Manning and Walter M. Johnston had the following children:
