Hubbard, 81, formerly of Lawrenceville, died Saturday evening at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday. He had resided at St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, for the past two years.
"Mr. Hubbard was a mason with the bricklayers union Local 420, Massena, until retiring in 1983.
"He was a former member of Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
"Born Sept. 16, 1921, at Carthage, son of Clinton and Charlotte Brotherton Hubbard, he attended Carthage schools and served in the Army.
"He married Eileen Frances Norton on Oct. 5, 1947, in Canada. She died March 28, 2000.
"Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, JoAnne and Robert Taylor, Lawrenceville, Susan and James Gardner, Massena, and Mary Jo and David Sychtysz, Bangor; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Earl, San Jose, Calif., Charles and Carol, Massena, and Wayne and Kathy, Saranac Lake; two sisters, Viola Souva, Fulton, and Emiline Mosher, Carthage; two brothers, Vernie, Carthage, and Clinton "Buddy," Mexico, 19 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
"Two sons, Lawrence C. and Randy L., died in a fire June 27, 1981. A daughter, Donna Leigh Hubbard, died Jan. 27, 1976. A brother, Fred, and a sister also died before him.
"The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
"Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

"Surviving besides her husband and her daughter Susan are three sons, Earl L. Jr., Hollister, Calif., Charles, Massena, and Wayne, Saranac Lake; two other daughters, Mrs. Robert (JoAnn) Taylor, North Lawrence, and Mrs. David (Mary Jo) Sychtysz, Watertown; two brothers, Richard Norton, Kentucky, and John I. Norton, Jamaica Plains, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Margaret) Howland, Marcy, and Mrs. Raymond (Shirley) Ross, Mount Upton; 19 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
