"Born Sept. 15, 1945, at Gouverneur, he was a son of Guy and Dora Manning Yerdon. His father died and he was raised by his stepfather, Purley Simpson.
"He attended Cape Vincent High School and from 1965 to 1967 served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
"He married Joann Angel on Aug. 2, 1969, at Depauville Methodist Church.
"Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Kip (Shannon) Flint, Beaver Falls; two brothers, Wendell, Depauville, and Niles,
Nebraska; two sisters, Leona Simpson, Dexter, and Shelva Gillette, Copenhagen; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.
"A brother, Ray, was killed in the Korean War.
"The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont, with the Rev. James Hayes, of
Christian Life Center, Chaumont, officiating. Burial will be in New Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chaumont.
"Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


"Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the American Cancer Society." He was buried in New Cedar Grove cemetery, Chaumont, Jefferson, NY.
