270. Cyrena Florence Love was born on 3 Aug 1906 in Richville, St. Lawrence, NY. She died on 26 Mar 1940 in Watertown, Jefferson, NY. Her obituary appeared on 26 Mar 1940 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Woman, Aged 33, Dies In Hospital. Stricken Ill Sunday On Way To Gouverneur. Mrs. Cyrena D. L. Chilton. Watertown Resident, Formerly of Gouverneur, Succumbs to Stomach Ulcers--Funeral to Be Held Friday.
"Mrs. Cyrena Florence Love Chilton, 33, of 749 Leray street, former resident of Gouverneur, died at 2:45 this morning in the House of the Good Samaritan where she had been a patient since 5:30 Monday afternoon. Death was caused by ulcers of the stomach.
"She was suddenly stricken ill Sunday while she was on her way to Gouverneur to visit her mother who observed her birthday on that day. With her at the time were her brother and sister-in-law of Gouverneur, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Love.
"She became so ill that she stopped at Carthage and consulted a physician there. Upon his advice, she returned to her home here. Later, a Watertown physician was called to attend her and she was removed to the hospital.
"An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death. A Gouverneur undertaker was called to take charge of the body which was taken to Gouverneur.
"Funeral services will be held at Gouverneur Friday and burial will be made in Riverside cemetery, Gouverneur.
"Mrs. Chilton's step-father and her mother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bacon, Gouverneur, and her brother, Forrest Love, of the Somerville road, Gouverneur, came here this morning after being notified of her death.
'She was born in Dekalb, Aug. 31, 1906, a daughter of Thomas and Bertha Styles Love. Her father, the late Mr. Love, was once chief of police of Gouverneur. After his death, her mother was married to Fred Bacon.
"She was married to Byron Chilton about twelve years ago at Lacona. Mr. and Mrs. Chilton resided in Watertown and Gouverneur after their marriage until 1939 when they were divorced. Since the divorce became final in 1939, Mrs. Chilton had lived in this city.
"Surviving her, besides her step-father, her mother and her brother, is another brother, Harold Love of Carthage." She was buried in Riverside cemetery, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, NY. Buried on her parents' lot.

Cyrena Florence Love and Byron E. Chilton were married about 1928 in Lacona, Oswego, NY. They were divorced in 1939. Byron E. Chilton (son of Harry Ralph Chilton and Mary E. "Mamie" Cramer) was born on 21 Aug 1907 in Hermon, St. Lawrence, NY. WW II information form shows year as 1908. He died on 20 Mar 1965 in Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, NY. His obituary appeared on 20 Mar 1965 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Byron Chilton Dead, Aged 57. Hermon Native, Former Air Brake Employee, Rites To Be Monday. Gouverneur, March 20 -- Byron E. Chilton, 57, of 233 Johnstown street, a native of Hermon, died this morning at 1:30 at his home. Mr. Chilton had been in ill health two years.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Burr-Green funeral home with Rev. Stanley E. Brown, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
"Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and Sunday afternoon and evening at their convenience.
"Surviving Mr. Chilton are his wife, Mrs. Alice G. Chilton; two sons, Harry R., stationed with the navy at Camden, N.J., and Thomas E., Fork Union Military Academy, Virginia; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Patricia) Tharrett, this village; a stepson, Albert Gardner, Winooski, Vt.; six grandchildren, and three brothers, Donald, Gouverneur; Howard, Alabama, and Harry, Florida.
"Mr. Chilton was born Aug. 21, 1907, a son of Harry and Mary Cramer Chilton, and attended schools in Hermon and Watertown. While in Watertown, he was employed at the New York Air Brake company.
"A World War II Veteran, Mr. Chilton came to this village in 1937 after having married Miss Cyrenna Florence Love about 1928. the marriage ended in divorce and Mrs. Chilton died March 26, 1940 in Watertown.
"Mr. Chilton married his second wife, Miss Alice McDougall Gardner, in Watertown on Sept. 22, 1943.
"Mr. Chilton was a member of the Gouverneur Exempt Firemen's association, the Silas Wainwright Post 6338, Gouverneur, and local lodge F. & A.M." He was buried in Riverside cemetery, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, NY. He served in the military during WW II -- U.S. Navy.
