[Eleanor Brotherton transcription] He was born on 24 Sep 1888 in Fowler, St. Lawrence, NY. He died on 5 Feb 1937 in Miami, Dade, Florida. His obituary appeared on 9 Feb 1937 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: ". . . World War Veteran Was A Semi-Invalid. Former Gouverneur Resident. Native of Fowler Was Employed as an Electrician For Oswegatchie Power Company Before the War. (Special to The Times)
"Gouverneur, Feb. 9.--Word has been received here of the death of Benjamin Harrison Love, 48, World war veteran and former resident of Gouverneur, who died in Miami, Fla., on Friday. He had been a semi-invalid since the war, and had spent the last ten winters in Florida.
"Mr. Love was born in Fowler, Sept. 24, 1888, a son of William and Cyrena Neil Love. He was employed as an electrician for the Oswegatchie Light & Power Company of Gouverneur for four years before the war. He went to Norwich where he formed a business partnership of Love & Wells. The business burned out and later he came to Gouverneur. He married Cora J. Edwards of Monticello, N.Y., in 1917, two weeks before his enlistment in the army.
"He enlisted at Gouverneur, and after a period of training camp he was transferred to South Carolina, where he served through the war. After his war service, he was treated in several hospitals for two or three years, for a partial paralysis and a condition of the eyes. He had not been able to work since the end of the war. He spent the summers in Gouverneur and Norwich and the winters in Florida for the past ten years.
"Mr. Love was a member of the American Legion, and a former member of the James Maloy Post. He was an exempt fireman.
"Surviving, besides the widow, the four brothers, Fred Love of Gouverneur, Robert Love of Antwerp, Wallace Love of Virginia and Charles Love of Syracuse, and six sisters, Miss Birdella Love, Mrs. Margaret Moore, and Mrs. Sarah Love of Gouverneur, Mrs. Alice Stiles of Richville, Mrs. Helen Swem of Rochester, and Mrs. Nellie Cobb of Lisbon.
"The body will be sent to the Severance funeral service rooms in Gouverneur from Miami, arriving here Wednesday night.
"Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Walter Lytle, Gleason street, Friday at 2:30. Rev. V. O. Boyle, rector of Triinity Episcopal church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery." He was buried in Riverside cemetery, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, NY. On lot with parents and siblings. He served in the military during WW I.
