402. Gordon Stanley Brotherton was born on 16 Dec 1907 in Watertown, Jefferson, NY. He died on 3 Apr 1966 in Watertown, Jefferson, NY. His obituary appeared in Apr 1966 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Gordon S. Brotherton Dies at 58. Gordon Stanley Brotherton, 58, former plant employee of the Black Clawson Company, Inc., died late Sunday morning at his home on ________ street, after a long illness of emphysema, a lung ailment.
"The funeral will be Wednesday morning at 11 at the Reed & Benoit Funeral home. Rev. Graham R. Hodges, pastor of the Emmanuel Congregational church, will officiate. burial will be in the Sanford's Corners cemetery at Calcium.
"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred I. Porter Brotherton; a son born of his second marriage, Airman, 1/c, Charles David Brotherton, U.S. Air Force, Great Falls, Mont., and his step-mother, Mrs. Emma J. Brotherton, 711 Leray Street.
"Mr. Brotherton had not been well for about ten years and had been seriously ill the past five years.
"He was born in Watertown Dec. 16, 1907, a son of Charles C. and Audrey Young Brotherton. He attended the local schools and spent the greater part of his life in this city.
"His mother died when he was a boy. His father died in the Mercy hospital Sept. 26, 1962, at the age of 75.
"Mr. Brotherton was a silk weaver earlier in life and was employed at the old Watertown Silk Manufacturing company mill on North Hamilton street at one time. He later also worked in silk mills in Fulton and Ogdensburg.
"For more than 20 years he was employed in the plant of the old Bagley & Sewall company, where his father was a moulder, and its successor, the Black Clawson company. He had not worked since 1961 owing to ill health.
"Mr. Brotherton married twice. When he was 17 he married Miss Dorothy Lashway of this city. the marriage ended in divorce in 1936. On July 4, 1941, he married Miss Mildred I. Porter of this city at Chaumont.
"At one time in early manhood Mr. Brotherton was known as a singer and performed in amateur night programs on the stage of local motion picture theaters." He was buried in Sanford Corners cemetery, Calcium, Jefferson, NY.

Gordon Stanley Brotherton and Dorothy Lashway were divorced in 1936. They were married.
