Friday. Carthage, Sept. 25. -- Arthur James Brotherton, 47, an employe of the
St. Regis Paper company, Deferiet, for more than 30 years, died suddenly at 9:30
last night after an illness of a week. Mr. Brotherton, who had a heart ailment
but had continued work until a week ago, died at his home on the Martin street
road.
"The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Doyle funeral home, with
Rev. Dr. Alvin C. Goddard, rector of Woolworth Memorial church, Great Bend, officiating.
Burial will be in the family plot in the Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call
Thursday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
"Surviving Mrs. Brotherton are his wife, Mildred Ferguson Brotherton;
two sons, Gerald H., at home, and Robert J., serving with the army at the Aberdeen,
Md., proving grounds; four brothers, Ralph, Lowville, Claude L. D., Rome, Leslie
A., Deferiet, and Fred S., Oswego, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Martin, Fulton,
and Mrs. Lucy Utzler, Steubenville, O.
"Mr. Brotherton was born Dec. 23, 1909, at Carthage, a son of William
H. and Bertha Elliott Brotherton. He attended local schools and has been employed
at the St. Regis Paper company, Deferiet, since 1926. He was married to Miss
Mildred Ferguson of Black River 25 years ago.
"Mr. Brotherton was a member of local 56 of the Paper Mill Workers, and
a member of Woolworth Memorial church, Great Bend." He was buried in Great
Bend cemetery, Great Bend, Jefferson, NY. He had his estate probated
in Watertown, Jefferson, NY. -File #57337. Arthur James Brotherton
and Mildred Ferguson were married about 1932. Mildred
Ferguson was born. Arthur James Brotherton and Mildred Ferguson
