His obituary appeared on 24 Oct 1988 in the Watertown Daily Times, as follows: "TIMOTHY L. PERSHA DIES AT 19 OF LEUKEMIA. CARTHAGE. Timothy Leland Persha, 19, of 600 S. Washington St., died this morning of leukemia at his home.
"The funeral will be Wednesday morning at a time to be announced, at the McGraw Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
"Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
"Surviving are his wife, Christine; a son, Anthony John, and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kilbourn, both at home; his father, Albert J. Persha, Derby, Vt.; his mother, Linda Persha, Carthage; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Brotherton, Calcium; two brothers, Jeffrey, Carthage, and Samuel, Derby; two sisters, Michele, Carthage, and Alfreda, Derby, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
"Born in Watertown on April 15, 1969, a son of Albert J. and Linda Brotherton Persha, he was a June graduate of Carthage High School.
"Mr. Persha was employed in the maintenance department at Fort Drum. He had previously worked at the James Seaman farm in Carthage.
"He married Christine Hoppy on Oct. 13 in Watertown.
Mr. Persha had been very active in the 4-H and Boy Scouts." He was buried in Fairview cemetery, Carthage, Jefferson, NY.
